RNF152 Suppresses Fatty Acid Oxidation and Metastasis of Lung Adenocarcinoma by Inhibiting IRAK1-Mediated AKR1B10 Expression
This study aimed to identify the role of ring finger protein 152 (RNF152) in LUAD. RNF152 was down-regulated in LUAD, and low RNF152 expression correlated with a poor prognosis in LUAD patients. RNF152 overexpression inhibited the proliferation and malignant phenotype of LUAD cells, whereas RNF152 knockdown exerted an opposite effect. Tumor cells overexpressing RNF152 showed less fatty acid oxidation compared with control cells, whereas RNF152 knockdown induced fatty acid uptake and oxidation. Further analysis revealed the binding reaction between RNF152 and interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 1 (IRAK1). RNF152 reduce...

Resolvin D2-GPR18 Enhances Bone Marrow Function and Limits Steatosis and Hepatic Collagen Accumulation in Aging
Am J Pathol. 2023 Sep 15:S0002-9440(23)00322-X. doi: 10.1016/j.ajpath.2023.08.011. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAging is associated with non-resolving inflammation and tissue dysfunction. Resolvin D2 (RvD2) is a pro-resolving ligand that acts through the G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) called GPR18. Unbiased RNA sequencing revealed increased Gpr18 expression in macrophages from old mice, and in livers from elderly humans, which was associated with increased steatosis and fibrosis in middle-aged (MA) and old mice. MA mice that lack GPR18 on myeloid cells had exacerbated steatosis and hepatic fibrosis, which was associate...

Estrogen-related receptor agonism reverses mitochondrial dysfunction and inflammation in the aging kidney
This study examined the role of the nuclear hormone receptors, the estrogen-related receptors (ERRs), in regulation of age-related mitochondrial dysfunction and inflammation. The ERRs were decreased in both aging human and mouse kidneys and were preserved in aging mice with lifelong caloric restriction (CR). A pan-ERR agonist, SLU-PP-332, was used to treat 21-month-old mice for 8-weeks. In addition, 21-month-old mice were treated with a STING inhibitor, C-176, for 3 weeks. Remarkably, similar to CR, only an 8-week treatment with a pan-ERR agonist reversed the age-related increases in albuminuria, podocyte loss, mitochondri...

Primary melanoma of female urethra: A case diagnosed in Ouagadougou
We report a case of primary melanoma of a female urethra diagnosed at a non-metastatic stage in a 48-year-old patient with a history of breast carcinoma treated with radiotherapy and hormone therapy. The patient was consulting for dysuria, hematuria, and perineal pain. The clinical examination found a prolapsed and black mass, developed at the expense of the urethra and located at the anterosuperior part of the vulva. The mass biopsy revealed a proliferation of fusiform and globular cells loaded with black pigment expressing the anti-HMB 45 and PS 100 antibodies. The extension assessment showed an absence of secondary loca...
