Compliance with hand-hygiene guidelines among healthcare workers: a cross-sectional study at the Umberto I teaching hospital of Rome, Italy
CONCLUSION: Overall, we observed reasonable compliance levels, but it is important to increase adherence to HH practice and monitor any behaviour change.PMID:37712238 | DOI:10.4415/ANN_23_03_06

A Call to Action for the Professional Development of Mid-Career Faculty
Am J Pharm Educ. 2023 Sep;87(9):100044. doi: 10.1016/j.ajpe.2023.01.005. Epub 2023 Mar 15.ABSTRACTDespite taking on heavier teaching and service loads, an expanding research program, and serving as mentors to junior faculty, mid-career faculty often feel unsupported. Providing a solid foundation through resource allocation and sharing between and within institutions can facilitate establishment or improvement of faculty development initiatives, workload equity, transparent policies, routine performance evaluation, a process for faculty recognition, and a system of mentoring to create an environment where this essential gro...

"Holographic" Autostereoscopic Displays: A Perspective on Their Technology and Potential Impact in Chemistry
Chemistry. 2023 Sep 14:e202301746. doi: 10.1002/chem.202301746. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe three-dimensional arrangement of atoms in molecules is essential for understanding their properties and behavior. Traditional 2D representations and digital 3D models presented on 2D media often fall short in conveying the complexity of molecular structures. Autostereoscopic displays, often marketed as "holographic" displays, pose a potential solution to this challenge. These displays, with their multi-view and single-view configurations, promise to advance chemistry education and research by offering accurate 3D representatio...

A Mixed-Methods Analysis of Speech-Language Pathologists' Executive Function Services
CONCLUSIONS: Speech-language pathology graduate programs and providers of professional development should be mindful of their role in preparing SLPs to address EF needs, while SLPs may use these results to inform their own practice. Further guidance and research are necessary to elucidate the SLPs' role in mitigating the negative impact of EF challenges on students' education.SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL: https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.24101241.PMID:37707364 | DOI:10.1044/2023_AJSLP-22-00238

A Know-Brainer: The Power of Cadaver-Based Instruction to Teach Clinical Neuroanatomy
CONCLUSIONS: Cadaver-based instruction was more effective in improving students' ability to identify neuroanatomy compared to lecture for CSD students. Interestingly, cadaver-based demonstrations were also most effective in bolstering students' retention of structural knowledge when conducted before, instead of after, a lecture. Clinical training programs, specifically student learning outcomes, benefit from cadaver-based instruction that provides both three-dimensional orientation and a deep appreciation of the human elements of clinical anatomy. Furthermore, both the acquisition and retention of anatomical concepts may b...
