Oral Health Literacy-Measurement Instruments and their Psychometric Properties: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: The psychometric properties that were evaluated in the present systematic review were structural validity, internal consistency, reliability (test-retest), and hypothesis testing for construct validity. To date, there is no gold standard measuring instrument to evaluate the criterion validity parameter.PMID:37709674

Association between Expanded Disability Status Scale score and dietary antioxidant capacity in patients with multiple sclerosis
Braz J Med Biol Res. 2023 Sep 8;56:e12776. doi: 10.1590/1414-431X2023e12776. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTMultiple sclerosis (MS), a neuroinflammation that results in neurodegeneration, is the most prevalent central nervous system inflammatory disease in young people. A diet rich in antioxidants is known to decrease the production/activity of pro-inflammatory cytokines and have a positive impact on the prognosis of MS. The purpose of this study was to assess if dietary antioxidant capacity is related to Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores in patients with MS. Patients with MS (n=220; 137 women and 83 men) were asked...

Financial inclusion and environmental pollution in T ürkiye: Fresh evidence from load capacity curve using AARDL method
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 13. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29766-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSustainability is an important concept for the whole world. Generally, in order to measure the sustainability of the environment, carbon dioxide emissions and ecological footprint indicators are used. However, these variables do not reflect the supply side of natural resources. Therefore, load capacity factor is an important environmental indicator for a sustainability. Environmental assessment based on the load capacity factor is more meaningful. Besides, improved access to financial services can contribute to environme...

Spatio-temporal Sediment Quality Risk Assessment by Using Ecological and Statistical Indicators: A Review of the Upper Sakarya River, T ürkiye
In this study, heavy metal accumulation levels (Cu, Zn, Cr, Pb, As) in biotic [Carassius gibelio (Bloch, 1782), Squalius pursakensis (Hankó 1925)] and abiotic (sediments) components in a significant freshwater ecosystem in Türkiye were investigated on the basis of seasonal variations using geographic information systems (GIS) and some ecotoxicological risk assessment indices [PLI (pollution load index), PERI (potential ecological risk index), Igeo (geo accumulation index), CF (contamination factor) and BRI (Biological Risk Index)]. GIS-based maps were utilized to depict the distribution of ecotoxicological risk assessmen...

Deer management influences perception of avian plumage in temperate deciduous forests
Vision Res. 2023 Sep 11;213:108312. doi: 10.1016/j.visres.2023.108312. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMany animals use visual signals to communicate; birds use colorful plumage to attract mates and repel intruders. Visual signal conspicuousness is influenced by the lighting environment, which can be altered by human-induced changes. For example, deer-management efforts can affect vegetation structure and light availability. Whether these changes alter animal communication is still unknown. We investigated the effect of deer management on forest light and the contrast of understory birds against the forest background. We mod...
