Aquaporin-4 Blockage by siRNA Protects Rat Articular Chondrocytes from IL-1 β-induced Apoptosis by Inhibiting p38 MAPK Signal Pathway.
Aquaporin-4 Blockage by siRNA Protects Rat Articular Chondrocytes from IL-1β-induced Apoptosis by Inhibiting p38 MAPK Signal Pathway. Ann Clin Lab Sci. 2017 Sep;47(5):563-571 Authors: Cai L, Lei C, Li R, Chen WN, Li CM Abstract Accumulating evidence reveals that articular chondrocytes undergo increased apoptosis in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and inhibiting chondrocyte apoptosis might be a promising therapeutic strategy. We recently found that aquaporin-4 (AQP4) protein level in the cartilage of rats with adjuvant-induced arthritis was higher than normal rats. Herein, cultured rat articular chondrocyte...

HIF-1α Silencing Inhibits the Growth of Osteosarcoma Cells by Inducing Apoptosis.
Abstract BACKGROUND: Osteosarcoma (OS) is a malignant tumor of mesenchymal origin, which is generally locally aggressive and tends to produce early systemic metastases. Therefore, an identification of a novel therapeutic target is required. METHODS: We investigated the effect of small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) on the growth of Osteosarcoma MG-63 and U2-OS cells. Two cell-lines were transfected with various concentrations of HIF-1α or control siRNA, and the effect on HIF-1α expression was analyzed by using quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blot ...

Effect of Pim-3 Downregulation on Proliferation and Apoptosis in Lung Adenocarcinoma A549 Cells.
CONCLUSION: The downregulation of Pim-3 was closely related to the activation status of the lung STAT3 signaling pathway, mediated cell proliferation inhibition and induced apoptosis. PMID: 31882428 [PubMed - in process]

RNA interfering targeting human leukocyte antigen-g enhanced immune surveillance mediated by the natural killer cells on hepatocellular carcinoma.
Conclusions Abnormal expression of HLA-G in HCC cell lines plays an important role in protecting against NK cell attack. The significant correlation between HLA-G expression and NK cell lysis implies that the abnormal expression of HLA-G might contribute to the mechanism of escape from host immune surveillance in HCC. Knockdown of Hypoxia-Inducible Factor-1 Alpha Reduces Proliferation, Induces Apoptosis and Attenuates the Aggressive Phenotype of Retinoblastoma WERI-Rb-1 Cells under Hypoxic Conditions.
Conclusion HIF-1α plays a major role in the survival and aggressive phenotype of retinoblastoma cells under hypoxic conditions. Targeting HIF-1α may be a promising therapeutic strategy for human malignant retinoblastoma. PMID: 24795051 [PubMed - in process]

EZH2 Downregulation Augments the Effect of Irradiation in Reducing Pancreatic Cancer Cell Proliferation in vitro.
CONCLUSIONS: EZH2 downregulation in combination with irradiation reduces PANC-1 and MIA PaCa-2 cell proliferation more than irradiation alone. This study affirms the role of EZH2 downregulation for radiosensitization in pancreatic cancer treatment. PMID: 32161011 [PubMed - in process]
