Indole-3-acetic acid improves the hepatic mitochondrial respiration defects by PGC1a up-regulation
In conclusion, our findings uncovered that I3A increased hepatic PGC1a expression, contributing to mitochondrial respiration improvement in NAFLD.PMID:35988807 | DOI:10.1016/j.cellsig.2022.110442

Sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor 2 promotes erythrocyte clearance by vascular smooth muscle cells in intraplaque hemorrhage through MFG-E8 production
Cell Signal. 2022 Jul 26:110419. doi: 10.1016/j.cellsig.2022.110419. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIntraplaque hemorrhage (IPH) accelerates atherosclerosis progression. To scavenge excessive red blood cells (RBCs), vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) with great plasticity may function as phagocytes. Here, we investigated the erythrophagocytosis function of VSMCs and possible regulations involved. Based on transcriptional microarray analysis, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analysis showed that genes up-regulated in human carotid atheroma with IPH were enriched in functions of phagocytic activiti...

IL-6/STAT3 signaling activation exacerbates high fructose-induced podocyte hypertrophy by ketohexokinase-A-mediated tristetraprolin down-regulation
Cell Signal. 2021 Jul 9:110082. doi: 10.1016/j.cellsig.2021.110082. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGlomerular hypertrophy is a crucial factor of severe podocyte damage and proteinuria. Our previous study showed that high fructose induced podocyte injury. The current study aimed to explore a novel molecular mechanism underlying podocyte hypertrophy induced by high fructose. Here we demonstrated for the first time that high fructose significantly initiated the hypertrophy in rat glomeruli and differentiated human podocytes (HPCs). Consistently, it induced inflammatory response with the down-regulation of anti-inflammatory fac...

Coordinated regulation of miR-27 by insulin/CREB/Hippo contributes to insulin resistance.
In this study, we attempted to identify the mechanism by which miR-27 was regulated in the context of insulin resistance, a predisposed metabolic disorder in NAFLD. With cell culture experiments and animal studies, our results showed that miR-27 was coordinately regulated by insulin, CREB, and Hippo signalings. First, miR-27 was upregulated in palmitate-treated cells and high fat diet-fed mouse livers, both of which exhibited insulin resistance and increased CREB expression. Second, miR-27 was peaked in mouse liver at post-absorptive phase when CREB activity was increased. Also, miR-27 was increased rapidly in insulin-trea...
