Long noncoding RNA H19 promotes vincristine resistance in multiple myeloma by targeting Akt.
Authors: Wang Y, Xu S, Wang L, Liu J, Wang J, Zhou J Abstract Multiple myeloma is a malignant proliferation of plasma cells that results from a single clone. Manifestations include bone pain or fractures, kidney failure, susceptibility to infection, anemia, and hypercalcemia. To investigate the relationship between vincristine (VCR) resistance and Long noncoding RNA H19 (Lnc-RNA H19) in multiple myeloma (MM) this experiment was set up. For this aim, RT-PCR was used to detect the expression of lnc-RNA H19 in 60 MM patients from No.215 Hospital of Shaanxi Nuclear Industry and 50 healthy controls, and further detected...

AQP2 is regulated by estradiol in human endometrium and is associated with spheroid attachment in  vitro.
AQP2 is regulated by estradiol in human endometrium and is associated with spheroid attachment in vitro. Mol Med Rep. 2019 Jun 05;: Authors: He R, Han W, Hu Y, Chen X, Hu X, Zhu Y Abstract 17β‑estradiol (E2) and aquaporin 2 (AQP2) are associated with endometrial receptivity, and E2 directly regulates AQP2 expression in endometrial cancer cells. The present study aimed to investigate the role of AQP2 in embryo implantation. Normal endometrial samples were collected at the Women's Hospital (Hangzhou, China) from women seeking in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer; women with endometrial abnorma...

Expression of GRIM-19 in unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion and possible pathogenesis
AbstractSTUDY QUESTIONIs aberrant expression of gene associated with retinoid-interferon-induced mortality-19 (GRIM-19) associated with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA)?SUMMARY ANSWERGRIM-19 deficiency may regulate regulatory T cell/T helper 17 cell (Treg/Th17) balance partly through reactive oxygen species (ROS) –mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling axis in URSA.WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADYImmunological disorders may cause impaired maternal immune tolerance to the fetus and result in fetal rejection. The differentiation of Treg and Th17 cells is controlled by phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt/mTOR...

hCG activates Epac-Erk1/2 signaling regulating Progesterone Receptor expression and function in human endometrial stromal cells
AbstractSTUDY QUESTIONHow does hCG signal in human endometrial stromal cells (ESCs) and what is its role in regulating ESC function?SUMMARY ANSWERhCG signaling in ESCs activates the extracellular signal-regulated protein kinases 1 and 2 (Erk1/2) pathway through exchange protein activated by cyclic AMP (cAMP) (Epac) and transiently increases progesterone receptor (PR) transcript and protein expression and its transcriptional function.WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADYhCG is one of the earliest embryo-derived secreted signals in the endometrium, which abundantly expresses LH/hCG receptors. hCG signals through cAMP/protein kinase A (PKA) ...

Expression and prognostic role of ubiquitination factor E4B in primary hepatocellular carcinoma
Ubiquitination factor E4B (UBE4B) has been speculated to have contradictory functions upon tumorigenesis as an oncogene or tumor suppressor in different types of cancers. We investigated the expression and prognostic role of UBE4B in primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using cell lines and 149 archived HCC samples. Correlation between the functions of UBE4B in HCC was also explored. We used human HCC cell lines (HepG2, Hep3B, SK‐Hep1, Huh7, SMMC‐7721, BEL‐7402) and a normal hepatocyte cell line (LO2) along with HCC samples from patients who had undergone resection for HCC previously at our hospital. A battery of m...
