In  vitro effects of Zinc in soluble and homeopathic formulations on macrophages and astrocytes.
In vitro effects of Zinc in soluble and homeopathic formulations on macrophages and astrocytes. Homeopathy. 2017 May;106(2):103-113 Authors: Bonafini C, Marzotto M, Bellavite P Abstract Zinc is an important metal in body homeostasis. Zinc in soluble form (Zn(2+)) and homeopathic Zincum metallicum were tested in macrophages and astrocytes in order to investigate its potential toxic or therapeutic effects. We evaluated cell viability (WST assay), cytokine production such as tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin 10 (IL-10) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and nitric oxide rel...

Differential effects of Zincum metallicum on cell models.
CONCLUSIONS: Differing responses and non-linearity were found on macrophages challenged with Zincum metallicum at high dilutions. No changes in melanoma cells were observed. Customised assays using target cells can be useful to investigate high-dilution effects. Other cell types and conditions should be explored. PMID: 28844290 [PubMed - in process]

Structural and thermal analyses of zinc and lactose in homeopathic triturated systems.
CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggested no structural changes due to the trituration and dynamization process. However, TG and DSC analyses permit the differentiation of dynamized and non-dynamized groups, suggesting the dynamization process induced a significant increase in the degradation heat. These results call for further calorimetric studies with other homeopathic dilutions and other methodologies, to better understand the dynamics of these systems. PMID: 28844289 [PubMed - in process]

Dilution-Induced Physico-Chemical Changes of Metal Oxide Nanoparticles Due to Homeopathic Preparation Steps of Trituration and Succussion.
CONCLUSION:  The results showed that the NPs sustained significant rate of temperature change due to energy transfer from moving eddies during succussion. Different physico-chemical changes, such as size reduction, successive reduction and oxidation of NPs, and morphological changes, were achieved through trituration and succussion. The retention of NPs within cross-linked poly-siloxane chains reveals the importance of both the borosilicate glass vial and the ethanol solution during preparation of homeopathic medicines. Silicea terra and Zincum metallicum Modulate the Activity of Macrophages Challenged with BCG In Vitro.
CONCLUSION:  Sil and Zinc presented different patterns of potency-dependent effect on macrophage activity. Bacterial digestion and a balanced IL-6/IL-10 production were related to Sil 6cH, though reduced oxidative stress with increased lysosomal activity was related to Sil 200cH. Degenerative effects were exclusively related to Sil 30cH, and potency-dependent phagocytosis was related only to Zinc. PMID: 33348418 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Physicochemical Properties of Zinc and Lactose in Solid Mixtures: Influence of Trituration Process
CONCLUSION: These results highlight the importance of applying suitable characterization methods to improve our understanding of the properties of homeopathic solid mixtures, whereas the uses of sensitive tools evidence the influence of trituration on the crystalline properties and in the enthalpy variation of dynamized samples.PMID:34820794 | DOI:10.1055/s-0041-1735984
