On 1 May 2015, the National IHR Focal Point for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia notified WHO of 1 additional case of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection. A 35-year-old male from Khamis Mushait city developed symptoms on 27 April and was admitted to hospital on 29 April. The patient has comorbidities. On 20 May 2015, the National IHR Focal Point of the Republic of Korea notified WHO of the first laboratory confirmed case of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection. On 21 May, two additional confirmed cases were reported. The case is a 44 year-old male from the Republic of Korea.
