Qualitative use of ICG angiography and lymphography in periorbital surgery
CONCLUSION: ICG allows for visualization of the vasculature of extraocular muscles and tumors, assessing perfusion of flaps during reconstruction and the global periorbital lymphatic drainage pathways.PMID:37698555 | DOI:10.1080/01676830.2023.2251569

Analysis of circulating ceramides and hexosylceramides in patients with coronary artery disease and type II diabetes mellitus
CONCLUSION: This study suggests that levels of circulating HexCers are downregulated in patients with CAD and concomitant DM compared to patients without DM. Further research is needed to investigate the underlying mechanisms and the suitability of HexCers as possible mediators and/or prognostic markers in CAD.PMID:37700226 | DOI:10.1186/s12872-023-03454-x

Association of oxidized ApoB and oxidized ApoA-I with high-risk coronary plaque features in cardiovascular disease
CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that the investigated OMLs are associated with high-risk coronary plaque features and progression over time in CVD patients.TRIAL REGISTRATION: URL: https://www.CLINICALTRIALS: gov. Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography Metrics in Diabetes: Focusing on Diabetic Retinopathy and Carotid Atherosclerosis
CONCLUSIONS: Focusing on IRBFD and CRBFD in the 3*3 window of OCTA allows for a more sensitive prediction of the occurrence of DR in diabetic patients. Meanwhile, the quantitative microvascular information provided by OCTA and the occurrence of DPVD may be crucial for diagnosing carotid atherosclerosis. For T2DM patients, we also propose the possibility of FAZ in the 3*3 window as a potential diagnostic indicator.PMID:37696316 | DOI:10.1016/j.pdpdt.2023.103799

A Comprehensive Review of Myocardial Bridging: Exploring Diagnostic and Treatment Modalities
Cureus. 2023 Aug 8;15(8):e43132. doi: 10.7759/cureus.43132. eCollection 2023 Aug.ABSTRACTMyocardial bridging (MB) is a congenital coronary artery anomaly involving an overlying myocardium's partial or complete encasement of a coronary artery segment. The obstruction can lead to significant cardiac symptoms, resulting in myocardial ischemia, arrhythmia, and sudden cardiac death. Several approaches, including invasive and non-invasive methods, have been proposed to diagnose and manage MB. Invasive modalities, such as intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and coronary angiography, offer high specificity and sensitivity. In contrast...

Characteristics of Premature Myocardial Infarction Among Women With Prior Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: Among women with premature MIs, 39% had a history of an APO. Women with APO history presented sooner after pregnancy but had similar MI characteristics vs those without APOs. Pregnancy history may identify women who warrant early, aggressive cardiovascular disease prevention.PMID:37694271 | PMC:PMC10487279 | DOI:10.1016/j.jacadv.2023.100411

A Case Report: An Unusual Variation in the Facial Artery
Adv Biomed Res. 2023 Jul 20;12:178. doi: 10.4103/abr.abr_258_22. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTThe facial artery is the main artery supplying the face occasionally. It gives three branches on the face, the inferior labial, the superior labial, and the lateral nasal, and terminates as the angular artery. Due to congenital vascular variations in the facial artery, it has been considered in the dissection of the head and neck region. During the dissection of a 65-year-old woman to expose this region, we discovered that the left facial artery is terminated by the superior labial artery after giving off the submental and inferior la...
