Augmentative Plating in the Treatment of Femoral Nonunion after Intramedullary Nail Fixation
CONCLUSIONS: A high proportion of individuals with femoral nonunion after IMN fixation were salvaged by AP and an autogenous bone graft. Bi-cortical plate and screw intersection of more than six cortices may increase the treatment effectiveness.LIMITATIONS: There were limitations of this study. First, it was a retrospective study over a 10-year period, and the patients were treated by different orthopedic surgeons. Second, lack of functional evaluation is another limitation of the present work.GENERALIZABILITY: The technique of bi-cortical plate and screw intersection of more than six cortices is not difficult for experien...

Perceptions of Radiation Safety Culture Among Radiography, Computed Tomography, And Mammography Technologists
CONCLUSION: An analysis of the collaborative actions in the mammography department is needed, and the findings could be applied in radiography and CT to improve perceptions of radiation safety-related teamwork.PMID:37709523

Low disease activity state associated with fewer incident vertebral fractures in Mestizo women with systemic lupus erythematosus
CONCLUSIONS: LDAS ≥50% of the time was significantly associated with a diminished risk of new VF in Mestizo women with SLE, even in patients not in remission. However, LDAS did not help modify BMD changes over time.PMID:37705367 | DOI:10.1177/09612033231202878

Cephalometric comparison of Eastman standards among caucasians and saudi population in the Najran region
The objective of this study was to establish the cephalometric norms of normal and pleasant soft tissue profiles of adult Saudi living in the Najran region of Saudi Arabia and compare them with the Eastman standards derived from the Caucasian population. A total of 60 lateral cephalometric radiographs (30 males and 30 females) of Najran adults aged between 18-30 years with pleasing, acceptable, harmonious and well-balanced soft tissue profile and Class I molar relationship with no history of previous orthodontic treatment, no crowding or spacing, normal overjet and overbite were selected for the study. Descriptive analysis...

Treatment Variation and Long-Term Outcomes of Low-Grade Appendiceal Neoplasms
CONCLUSIONS: Significant variation exists in treatment patterns for LAMNs, particularly prior to referral to a high-volume center. Patients frequently underwent colectomy without apparent oncologic benefit. In the current era of high-quality cross sectional imaging, routine use of DL has low yield and is not recommended. Recurrence in this population is rare, and low-intensity surveillance can be offered. Overall prognosis is excellent, even with peritoneal disease.PMID:37702905 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-13501-8

Which Knee Phenotypes Exhibit the Strongest Correlation With Cartilage Degeneration?
CONCLUSION: We found that certain alignment patterns are associated with rapid deterioration of cartilage and exposure of subchondral bone, even over short time periods. In particular, the valgus femur with valgus tibia and valgus femur with varus tibia phenotypes deserve special attention, because they exhibited a strong, atypical correlation with the internal medial tibial subregion and anterior lateral tibial subregion, respectively. This is important because valgus and varus malalignment cause isolated lateral and medial compartment disease, respectively. Therefore, these findings suggest that a more individualized app...
