Post-injury outcomes following non-sport related concussion: A CARE Consortium Study
CONCLUSIONS: Athletes with non-SRC had worse post-injury outcomes relative to SRC and females with non-SRC had worse recovery metrics relative to males. Our findings suggest that further investigation of individuals with non-SRC is needed to improve concussion reporting and management.PMID:37681681 | DOI:10.4085/1062-6050-0181.23

The effectiveness of peroneal nerve stimulation combined with neuromuscular electrical stimulation in the management of knee osteoarthritis: A randomized controlled single-blind study
CONCLUSION: In patients with knee OA, we believe that PNS combined with NMES may be more effective than NMES treatment alone in terms of proprioception, HMS, and functional status.PMID:37674803 | PMC:PMC10478537 | DOI:10.5606/tftrd.2023.10998

Developing a common metric using current scales for assessing functioning in patients with knee osteoarthritis
CONCLUSION: A reliable CM was created from the commonly used scales to measure functioning in individuals with knee OA. Thus, clinicians and researchers can refer to the transformation table to directly compare scores of those scales and use them interchangeably.PMID:37674797 | PMC:PMC10478544 | DOI:10.5606/tftrd.2023.12387

Examining the equity and diversity characteristics of academic general surgeons hired in Canada
CONCLUSION: The academic general surgery workforce appears to be somewhat diverse. However, there was substantial heterogeneity in diversity between hospitals, leaving room for improvement. We must be willing to examine our hiring processes and be transparent about them to build an equitable surgical workforce.PMID:37673438 | DOI:10.1503/cjs.006122

The core epistemic responsibilities of universities: Results from a Delphi study
Account Res. 2023 Sep 6. doi: 10.1080/08989621.2023.2255826. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEpistemic responsibilities (ERs) of universities concern equipping and empowering its researchers, educators and students to attain, produce, exchange and disseminate knowledge. ERs can potentially guide universities in improving education, research and in service to society. Building on earlier philosophical work, we applied empirical methods to identify core ERs of universities and their constituting elements. We used a three-round Delphi survey, alternating between closed questions to gain consensus, and open questions to let pane...
