Machine learning to predict outcomes following endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
CONCLUSIONS: In this data set, machine learning was able to predict 1-year mortality following EVAR using preoperative data and outperformed standard logistic regression models.PMID:37710397 | DOI:10.1093/bjs/znad287

Nephroscope-assisted single trocar peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion improves catheter survival compared with laparoscopic technique: Ten-year experience of a single center
CONCLUSIONS: Compared with the traditional laparoscopic approach, the nephroscopic technique effectively prolonged catheter survival and reduces health care cost by reducing infectious complications. The low complication rate during the learning phase of surgery makes the procedure safe for patients and surgeons.PMID:37689515 | DOI:10.1016/j.asjsur.2023.08.143

Inflow Artery Aneurysmal Degeneration After Long Term Native Arteriovenous Fistula for Haemodialysis
CONCLUSION: Aneurysmal degeneration of the inflow artery is an unusual complication during long term follow up of AVFs. Aneurysm excision and, in general, autogenous graft interposition using the saphenous or ipsilateral arm vein is a safe and effective strategy.PMID:37659740 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2023.08.063

Exchange of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Cannulas for Hemodialysis Catheters in Children Requiring Renal Replacement Therapy
CONCLUSION: Venous ECMO cannula exchange for a hemodialysis catheter in children requiring renal replacement therapy after decannulation is possible as a bridge to a permanent hemodialysis or peritoneal catheter if renal function does not recover, while supporting vein preservation.PMID:37609992 | DOI:10.1177/00031348231198119

The effects of high quality team medicine on outcomes of chronic limb-threatening ischemia patients with infrapopliteal bypass
CONCLUSIONS: A reorganized team approach with the goal of higher quality was independently associated with reduced major amputation for patients with CLTI treated with infrapopliteal bypass. This result indicates the importance of a high quality team approach for success of this treatment.PMID:37551800 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231194959

A scoping review of outcomes with routine surveillance of arterio-venous fistulas
J Vasc Access. 2023 Jul 26:11297298231188024. doi: 10.1177/11297298231188024. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is the preferred venous access for maintenance haemodialysis. AVF dysfunction can progress to access failure, with all the associated morbidity and costs of revising vascular accesses. Routine surveillance of AVFs using specialised equipment has the potential to enable early detection of potential problems. The KDOQI Clinical Practice Guidelines for Vascular Access: Update 2019 suggest that surveillance may be useful to supplement regular clinical monitoring but acknowledge a lack of e...

Risk Factors for Acute Renal Failure After Endovascular Aneurysm Repair
CONCLUSIONS: ARF after EVAR causes significant morbidity, prolongs hospitalizations, and increases mortality rates. Those patients at risk of ARF after EVAR should be closely monitored to reduce both morbidity and mortality.PMID:37490565 | DOI:10.1177/00031348231191181
