Aqueous misdirection syndrome post silicone oil removal in a vitrectomized eye - a case report
CONCLUSION: AMS can rarely occur following vitrectomy and is likely secondary to intact anterior hyaloid. Lensectomy along with zonulo-hyaloido-iridectomy is essential. This report highlights the occurrence of this rare complication and its effective management.PMID:37673074 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231200063

Understanding and interpreting CNN's decision in optical coherence tomography-based AMD detection
CONCLUSION: Critical analysis reveals that the ONL-ISM is the most contributing layer in determining AMD, followed by Nerve Fiber Layer to Inner Plexiform Layer (NFL-IPL).PMID:37671441 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231199126

Performance of deep learning for detection of chronic kidney disease from retinal fundus photographs: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Deep learning based on retinal fundus photographs has the ability to detect CKD, but it currently has a lot of room for improvement. It is still a long way from clinical application.PMID:37671422 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231199848

Long-term complications according to silicone oil type. A single center cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: We propose SO extraction as the preferred treatment for ME during SO tamponade. SO extraction should be performed sooner in younger patients to avoid emulsification. In selected patients, we suggest a longer duration of the tamponade up to 11 months with a reasonable safety profile, regardless of the SO type.PMID:37671421 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231200034

Characterization of Central and Nasal Orbital Adipose Stem Cells and their Neural Differentiation Footprints
CONCLUSION: We suggested the explant method of culture as an easy and suitable method for the expansion of OASCs. Our findings denote mesenchymal properties of both central and nasal OASCs, while mesenchymal and neural characteristics were expressed stronger in nasal OASCs when compared to central ones. These findings can be added to the literature when cell transplantation is targeted in the treatment of neuro-retinal degenerative disorders.PMID:37670706 | DOI:10.2174/1574888X19666230905114246

Pigmented paravenous chorioretinal atrophy: Updated scenario
Eur J Ophthalmol. 2023 Sep 5:11206721231199118. doi: 10.1177/11206721231199118. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPigmented paravenous chorioretinal atrophy (PPCRA) is an uncommon form of chorioretinal atrophy characterized by perivenous aggregations of pigment clumps associated with peripapillary and radial zones of retinal pigment epithelial atrophy that are distributed along the retinal veins. Most patients are asymptomatic, and evidence suggest that PPCRA is slowly progressing. Unless macular involvement is present, the majority of patients usually retain a normal visual function. Our ability to diagnose PPCRA has recently...

Visual outcome of treating proliferative sickle cell retinopathy in 108 eyes
CONCLUSION: Several options effectively treat PSCR. Visual outcome improved or remained same in 90.7% of treated eyes. Randomized controlled trials will determine the optimum treatment for each distinct presentation of PSCR. Treatment guidelines and a disease classification system of prognostic value are unmet needs.PMID:37670511 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231199273
