Patients with radiographic axial spondylarthritis have an impaired dietary intake-a cross-sectional study with matched controls from northern Sweden
CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that r-axSpA patients have an impaired dietary intake. Notably, intake was lower in several nutrients theorized to have anti-inflammatory properties (fiber density, marine-omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and selenium). We further propose that nutrition screening might be incorporated into the management of r-axSpA patients.PMID:37550771 | DOI:10.1186/s13075-023-03126-3

Respiratory Syncytial Virus Bronchiolitis: Rapid Evidence Review
Am Fam Physician. 2023 Jul;108(1):52-57.ABSTRACTBronchiolitis is the most common lower respiratory tract infection in young children. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the most common viral cause of bronchiolitis. RSV is spread through respiratory droplets, and the number of cases varies with season. Pleural Effusion and Malnutrition Are Associated With Worse Early Outcomes After Liver Transplant
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, 21% of recipients developed a clinically significant peri-transplant pleural effusion. Pleural effusion was associated with worse outcomes for all clinical measures. Risk factors for the development of pleural effusion included higher MELD score (>20), re-transplantation, alcoholic liver disease, and poor nutrition status, including poor muscle mass.PMID:37220891 | DOI:10.1177/00031348221126962

Medical complications following adult spinal deformity correction in patients with autoimmune disease
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with autoimmune disease had higher complication rates and worse PROMs following ASD surgery in this study. There was no difference in spinal alignment compared with controls. Multidisciplinary planning and full disclosure of possible adverse effects should be completed prior to correction of ASD in patients with autoimmune disease.PMID:37029670 | DOI:10.3171/2023.2.SPINE221392
