Breastfeeding or breast milk for procedural pain in neonates
CONCLUSIONS: Moderate-/low-certainty evidence suggests that breastfeeding or supplemental breast milk may reduce pain in neonates undergoing painful procedures compared to no intervention/positioning/holding or placebo or non-pharmacological interventions. Low-certainty evidence suggests that moderate concentration (20% to 33%) glucose/sucrose may lead to little or no difference in reducing pain compared to breastfeeding. The effectiveness of breast milk for painful procedures should be studied in the preterm population, as there are currently a limited number of studies that have assessed its effectiveness in this populat...

Maternal immunization during the second trimester with BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine induces a robust IgA response in Human Milk: A prospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: Our study provides evidence that administering the mRNA-vaccine to pregnant females during the second trimester leads to increased levels of vaccine-specific IgA during lactation. Considering the significance of human-milk IgA in mucosal tissues and its prevalence throughout lactation, it is reasonable to recommend maternal immunization with the BNT162b2 mRNA-vaccine during the second trimester.PMID:37479184 | DOI:10.1016/j.ajcnut.2023.07.013

A one-health approach to design an mRNA-based vaccine candidate against the lumpy skin disease virus as an alternative to live-attenuated vaccines
CONCLUSIONS: The study results indicate that the developed mRNA-based vaccine candidate for LSDV has high immunogenic potential and could serve as an effective alternative to live-attenuated vaccines. Further experimental validations are required to test its efficacy. The study also highlights the potential of the One-Health approach to tackle non-zoonotic diseases that have significant consequences for the environment and humanity.PMID:37458660 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202307_33000
