Assessment of spring water quality of Khandbari Municipality in Sankhuwasabha District, Eastern Nepal
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Aug 23. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29138-9. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe study was carried out in the Khandbari Municipality, Sankhuwasabha District, Eastern Nepal to document the spring location and assess the water quality of the spring water for drinking and irrigation purposes. A total of 85 springs were mapped, which are located from 274 to 2176 m in altitude. Spring water samples were collected from 33 springs in the pre-monsoon (November, 2021) and 31 springs in the post-monsoon (March, 2022). Correlation matrices, t-test, principal component analysis (PCA), Piper diagram, Gibbs di...

A critical mini-review on challenge of gaseous O < sub > 3 < /sub > toward removal of viral bioaerosols from indoor air based on collision theory
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Jun 29. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-28402-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCOVID-19, a pandemic of acute respiratory syndrome diseases, led to significant social, economic, psychological, and public health impacts. It was not only uncontrolled but caused serious problems at the outbreak time. Physical contact and airborne transmission are the main routes of transmission for bioaerosols such as SARS-CoV-2. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO), surfaces should be disinfected with chlorine dioxide, sodium hypochlorite, and quaternary compounds, whi...

Efficacy of Peracetic Acid and Sodium Hypochlorite against SARS-CoV-2 on Contaminated Surfaces
The objectives of this study were to investigate the virucidal efficacy of NaOCl and PAA against SARS-CoV-2 using the ASTM standard methods. In the suspension assay, NaOCl and PAA (5, 50, and 200 ppm) were tested against SARS-CoV-2 in the presence/absence of soil load after 1 min of contact time. In the carrier assay, NaOCl and PAA were tested at 200, 400, 600, and 1,000 ppm for 1 min and 200 and 1,000 ppm for 5 and 10 min. Stainless steel (SS) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) disks were used as carriers. The virus was suspended in soil load and the disinfectants were prepared in 300 ppm of hard water. Virus quantifica...

Prediction of ammonia contaminants in the aquaculture ponds using soft computing coupled with wavelet analysis
Environ Pollut. 2023 Jun 1:121924. doi: 10.1016/j.envpol.2023.121924. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIntensive aquaculture practices generate highly polluted organic effluents such as biological oxygen demand (BOD), alkalinity, total ammonia, nitrates, calcium, potassium, sodium, iron, and chlorides. In recent years, Inland aquaculture ponds in the western delta region of Andhra Pradesh have been intensively expanding and are more concerned about negative environmental impact. This paper presents the water quality analysis of aquaculture waters in 64 random locations in the western delta region of Andhra Pradesh. The averag...
