Environmental enrichment for stroke and other non-progressive brain injury
CONCLUSIONS: The gap in current research should not, however, be interpreted as proof that environmental enrichment is ineffective. Further research is needed with robust study designs, such as cluster RCTs, and consistent outcome measurement evaluating the effectiveness of environmental enrichment in different settings (inpatient versus outpatient), the relative effectiveness of various components of environmental enrichment, cost-effectiveness, and safety of the intervention in people following stroke or other non-progressive brain injuries. It should be noted, however, that it is challenging to randomise or double-blind...

Systematic review of sexual function in older women
CONCLUSION: Female sexual activity declines significantly with age and there is a non-significant association with poorer sexual function and decreasing sexual desire. Multiple biopsychosocial factors can impact on sexual function however, information relating to specific areas of sexual dysfunction with aging is sparse. This systematic review will inform a large-scale primary research project examining sexual function and dysfunction and impact on quality of life in older women, specifically in the context of women with pelvic floor disorders, in order to gain further insight and enhance clinical and holistic approaches t...

Autogenic drainage for airway clearance in cystic fibrosis
CONCLUSIONS: Autogenic drainage is a challenging technique that requires commitment from the individual. As such, this intervention merits systematic review to ensure its effectiveness for people with cystic fibrosis, particularly in an era where treatment options are changing rapidly. From the studies assessed, autogenic drainage was not found to be superior to any other form of airway clearance technique. Larger studies are required to better evaluate autogenic drainage in comparison to other airway clearance techniques in view of the relatively small number of participants in this review and the complex study designs. The effect of lycopene supplement from different sources on prostate specific antigen (PSA): A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
CONCLUSION: Overall, tomato extracts or lycopene treatment yielded no significant effect on PSA level compared to the control. However, more consistent clinical trials, with larger sample sizes, are required to better discern the actual effect of tomato extract or lycopene on PSA level.PMID:35031434 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctim.2022.102801

Aquatic Exercise and Mental Health: A Scoping Review
CONCLUSION: Aquatic exercise, specifically winter swimming, leisure swimming, competitive swimming and aquatic aerobics, can be a promising conservative therapy for mental health management. However, it is recommended that further research be conducted to solidify these findings and establish the long-term effects of this intervention on mental health.PMID:35218906 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctim.2022.102820
