Interaction of quercetin and its derivatives with Ca2+-ATPase from sarcoplasmic reticulum: Kinetic and molecular modeling studies
Gen Physiol Biophys. 2023 Sep;42(5):457-468. doi: 10.4149/gpb_2023020.ABSTRACTSarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPases (SERCAs) regulate cellular calcium homeostasis and are targeted for age-related diseases. Among 14 SERCA mRNA splice variants, SERCA1a is specific to adult fast-twitch skeletal muscle. Quercetin derivatives (monochloropivaloylquercetin (CPQ), IC50 = 195.7 µM; 2-chloro-1,4-naphthoquinonequercetin (CHNQ), IC50 = 60.3 µM) were studied for their impact on SERCA1a using molecular modeling and enzyme kinetics. While there were some similarities in kinetic parameters and molecular modeling, the compounds exhibited d...

Effect of propolis on membrane bound enzymes linked with breast cancer
Bioinformation. 2022 Dec 31;18(12):1192-1195. doi: 10.6026/973206300181192. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTAccording to estimates from the World Health Organization [WHO], in 2020, 685000 people worldwide died and 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast cancer will be the most common cancer in the world by the end of 2020, when 7.8 million women will still be living who had received a diagnosis within the previous five years. The current study was formulated to note the effects of ethanolic extract of Propolis and Withaferin-A on Breast tumor initiation by benzo(a)pyrene [B(a)p], and its effects on ATPase enz...

Insights into the mediation of Ca < sup > 2+ < /sup > signaling in the promoting effects of LETX-VI on the synthesis and release of dopamine
J Cell Commun Signal. 2023 Sep 13. doi: 10.1007/s12079-023-00783-6. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLatroeggtoxin-VI (LETX-VI) is an active protein and was previously demonstrated to have effects on the synthesis and release of dopamine. Hererin, the involvement of Ca2+ signaling in the effects of LETX-VI on dopamine was systematically investigated, using PC12 cells as a neuron model. LETX-VI was shown to promote dopamine release from PC12 cells both in the presence and absence of extracellular Ca2+; however the presence of extracellular Ca2+ was favorable for enhancing the promoting effects of LETX-VI on dopamine, because L...
