A Study of Srum Homocysteine Level in Ischaemic Stoke
CONCLUSION: The present study revealed that hyperhomocysteinemia appears to be an important risk factor for ischemic stroke. It is therefore important to use serum homocysteine as an important tool to investigate all cases of ischemic stroke and if serum homocysteine is elevated patient should be put on multivitamins containing vitamin B12, folic acid and pyridoxine to reduce serum homocysteine levels.PMID:35443421

Age and sex differences in atrial fibrosis among patients with atrial fibrillation
ConclusionsAdvancing age and female sex are associated with a higher burden of atrial fibrosis in patients with AF. Women with a prior history of stroke also have higher fibrosis compared with both women and men without history of stroke. Advanced fibrosis may explain the female and age association with stroke in AF.

Impact of intraoperative neurologic deficits in carotid endarterectomy under regional anesthesia.
Conclusions. Neurologic deficits during carotid clamping are a predictor of perioperative stroke. Body mass index > 30 kg/m2, a lower degree of ipsilateral stenosis, and a higher degree of contralateral stenosis are independent predictors of neurologic deficits and, therefore, might play a role in the prevention of procedure-related stroke. Silent ischaemic brain lesions related to atrial high rate episodes in patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices
Conclusion Cardiac implantable electronic devices can accurately detect AF as AHRE. Atrial high rate episodes were associated to a higher incidence of silent IBL on CT scan. Atrial high rate episodes represent a kind of silent AF where management recommendations are lacking despite the fact that a higher embolic risk is present.

Conclusions The incidence of LAAT in patients considered for TAVR is high, and LAAT embolization may represent a clinically relevant cause of periprocedural stroke. Dual-phase CCT is an accurate modality for the diagnosis of LAAT. It may obviate the need for pre-procedural TEE. The presence of LAAT should be examined in all patients undergoing TAVR and strategies developed for those patients in whom LAAT is identified.

Outcome of patients receiving a continuous flow left ventricular assist device - a retrospective single center study.

Relation of MRI Aortic Wall Area and Plaque to Incident Cardiovascular Events: The Framingham Heart Study
Conclusion In middle-aged community-dwelling adults, thoracic aortic wall area (AWA), plaque prevalence, and plaque volumes measured with MRI were independently associated with incident cardiovascular disease, with AWA associated in particular with stroke, and plaque associated with coronary heart disease. Prognostic impact of abdominal fat distribution and cardiorespiratory fitness in asymptomatic type 2 diabetics
Conclusions Although subcutaneous and visceral adipose tissues differed in their association with CRF levels and absolute event rates, lower baseline CRF in type 2 diabetics was significantly associated with higher risk of all-cause mortality, myocardial infarction or stroke, regardless of abdominal adiposity pattern.
