Environmental and lifestyle risk factors for early-onset dementia: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: The literature on environmental risk factors for EOD has been considerably growing in recent years. Overall, it supports an association between some environmental and lifestyle factors with disease risk. However, additional high-quality research is required to confirm these relations and its causal nature (www.actabiomedica.it).PMID:36533768 | PMC:PMC9828922 | DOI:10.23750/abm.v93i6.13279

Dipyridamole ameliorates doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity
J Med Life. 2022 Sep;15(9):1184-1190. doi: 10.25122/jml-2021-0199.ABSTRACTDipyridamole is a platelet inhibitor with antithrombotic properties that can help prevent stroke recurrence. Twenty-eight male rats were divided randomly into four groups (7 rats in each group). Control group: rats received a natural diet and water. Normal saline group: rats received 0.9% normal saline for two weeks. Doxorubicin group (induced group): rats received 2.5 mg/kg three times a week for two weeks. Dipyridamole group (dipyridamole treated group): received dipyridamole (6 mg/kg/daily) orally for two weeks. Doxorubicin caused cardiotoxicity a...

Replacing salt with low-sodium salt substitutes (LSSS) for cardiovascular health in adults, children and pregnant women
CONCLUSIONS: When compared to regular salt, LSSS probably reduce blood pressure, non-fatal cardiovascular events and cardiovascular mortality slightly in adults. However, LSSS also probably increase blood potassium slightly in adults. These small effects may be important when LSSS interventions are implemented at the population level. Evidence is limited for adults without elevated blood pressure, and there is a lack of evidence in pregnant women and people in whom an increased potassium intake is known to be potentially harmful, limiting conclusions on the safety of LSSS in the general population. We also cannot draw firm...

Effects of a gluten-reduced or gluten-free diet for the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease
CONCLUSIONS: Very low-certainty evidence suggested that it is unclear whether gluten intake is associated with all-cause mortality. Our findings also indicate that low-certainty evidence may show little or no association between gluten intake and cardiovascular mortality and non-fatal myocardial infarction. Low-certainty evidence suggested that a lower compared with a higher gluten intake may be associated with a slightly increased risk to develop type 2 diabetes - a major cardiovascular risk factor. For other cardiovascular risk factors it is unclear whether there is a difference between a gluten-free and normal diet. Giv...
