The impact of environmental regulation on farmers' income: an empirical examination based on different sources of income
This study uses Chinese rural household data to examine the relationship between environmental regulation and farmers' income. The study found that environmental regulation has the most apparent promotion effect on farmers' agricultural production income. However, the effects on self-employment and non-farm employment are insignificant. In addition, the increase in agricultural green total factor productivity is a channel for environmental regulation to promote agricultural production income. The stronger the farmers' awareness of environmental protection, the more significant the effect of environmental regulation on agri...

PET/CT in assessment of colorectal liver metastases: a comprehensive review with emphasis on < sup > 18 < /sup > F-FDG
Clin Exp Metastasis. 2023 Sep 8. doi: 10.1007/s10585-023-10231-9. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTApproximately 25% of those who are diagnosed with colorectal cancer will develop colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) as their illness advances. Despite major improvements in both diagnostic and treatment methods, the prognosis for patients with CRLM is still poor, with low survival rates. Accurate employment of imaging methods is critical in identifying the most effective treatment approach for CRLM. Different imaging modalities are used to evaluate CRLM, including positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT). Amon...

The impact of China's information infrastructure construction policy on green total factor productivity: moving towards a green world
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 7. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29638-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTChina's economic growth over the past two decades has led to severe environmental pollution in most of its cities. To address this issue, China has developed and implemented several strategies to increase its resource utilization efficiency and move towards a green production economy, such as the information infrastructure construction policy (IICP). To assess the extent to which green production is being achieved, this study first measured the green total factor productivity (GTFP) in Chinese prefecture-level cities usin...

Gender differences in the effect of teleworking on job loss during the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain
Econ Hum Biol. 2023 Aug 16;51:101299. doi: 10.1016/j.ehb.2023.101299. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis paper analyzes gender differences regarding the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the likelihood of job loss, differentiating between employment transitions towards unemployment, inactivity and furlough schemes, and the role that teleworking may have had as a protector of job loss in Spain. Based on more than 1,800 types of jobs defined by occupation and economic activity combinations, we propose an Evidence-Based Teleworking Index that considers the intensity of telework use in a given type of job, but also reflects t...

Metabolic syndrome increases the risk for premature employment exit: A longitudinal study among 60 427 middle-aged and older workers from the Lifelines Cohort Study and Biobank
CONCLUSIONS: MetS was identified as a modifiable early-stage cardio-metabolic risk factor especially for work disability and, to a lesser extent, for unemployment. Further, a clear dose-response relationship was found between an increasing number of MetS components and work disability. MetS interventions and prevention might help to prolong working lives. More awareness is needed among employers and occupational health professionals about the premature employment exit risk faced by middle-aged and older workers with MetS.PMID:37672668 | DOI:10.5271/sjweh.4113
