Bionik Labs integrates Amazon voice control tech into Arke lower body exoskeleton
Robotic rehabilitation device developer Bionik Laboratories said today it integrated Amazon‘s (NSDQ:AMZN) Echo and Alexa voice technology into its Arke lower body exoskeleton.
With the integration users of the Arke exoskeleton will be able to control the system and its various activity modes, including standing and walking, through voice commands, the Toronto-based company said.

NLP Logix, Mayo Clinic partner for AI analysis
Jacksonville-based NLP Logix rolled out its first medical use for artificial intelligence in partnership with Mayo Clinic, deploying the technology on brain MRI scans.

Niagara Falls Memorial opens $4.3 million cardiac unit
Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has opened its new inpatient cardiac and stroke unit.

IDx Closer to Nod for Diabetic Retinopathy Diagnostic
Privately held IDx is developing an artificial intelligence-based system that could help with the diagnosis diabetic retinopathy – a disease that leads to blindness if undetected.
The company met its endpoints in a pivotal trial of the IDx-DR system. The trial involved 900 diabetes patients at 10 sites. The study was designed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the technology in detecting moderate to severe diabetic retinopathy, including macular edema.

Medtronic inks 5-year partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network
Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) today announced a five-year strategic partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network looking to develop value-based solutions for patients within the network.
The LVHN serves a total of eight hospitals across seven counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Fridley, Minn.-based Medtronic said.

Being in a healthy relationship has been shown to provide health benefits, including a longer life. Now, a new study reports that people who are married appear to have a lower risk of heart disease.

IDF global survey reveals 2 in 3 people with type 2 diabetes have cardiovascular disease risk factors and/or have experienced a cardiovascular event
To mark World Heart Day on 29 September, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in partnership with Novo Nordisk announced the results from the Taking Diabetes to Heart survey. The global survey investigated cardiovascular disease (CVD) awareness among 12,695 people with type 2 diabetes and revealed that 2 in 3 had CVD risk factors such as high blood pressure, uncontrolled blood glucose levels and high cholesterol and/or had experienced a CVD event such as angina, heart attack, stroke or heart failure.

Cone Health employs teleneurology at MedCenter High Point
Cone Health is implementing technology to better care for High Point patients with stroke, seizure, headaches and other neurological disorders.
