Predictors of favorable outcome after mechanical thrombectomy for anterior circulation acute ischemic stroke in octogenarians
Conclusions There is no reason to withhold mechanical thrombectomy on the basis of age alone. Small infarct core, low NIHSS, male gender and use of IVT are associated with a better functional outcome.

Machine learning volumetry of ischemic brain lesions on CT after thrombectomy —prospective diagnostic accuracy study in ischemic stroke patients
ConclusionNCCT ILV measured automatically by the Brainomix software might be considered a valuable radiological outcome measure.

Multivariate prediction of functional outcome using lesion topography characterized by acute diffusion tensor imaging
Publication date: Available online 10 April 2019Source: NeuroImage: ClinicalAuthor(s): Eric Moulton, Romain Valabregue, Stephane Lehéricy, Yves Samson, Charlotte RossoAbstractThe relationship between stroke topography and functional outcome has largely been studied with binary manual lesion segmentations. However, stroke topography may be better characterized by continuous variables capable of reflecting the severity of ischemia, which may be more pertinent for long-term outcome. Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) constitutes a powerful means of quantifying the degree of acute ischemia and its potential relation to functional...

Thrombectomy or Intravenous Thrombolysis in patients with NIHSS of 5 or less?
Conclusions: MT in patients with minor strokes and intracranial vessel occlusion (IVO) is safe and can determine a rapid improvement of NIHSS score. MT seems also associated with a higher rate of patients discharged at home after hospitalization and better clinical outcome at 3-month follow-up. Larger randomized trials are warranted to confirm these results.

Full Reperfusion Without Functional Independence After Mechanical Thrombectomy in the Anterior Circulation
ConclusionA  variety of preinterventional factors may predict FR with substantial certainty, but the prediction model can still be improved by considering parameters only available after MT, in particular early neurological improvement.

Maximum lesions area and orthogonal values accessed from DWI images would be alternative imaging markers for predicting the outcome of acute ischemia in the middle cerebral artery territory.
Conclusion Since they correlated well with the infarction volume, MaxA and OD assessed on DWI were time-saving and achieved comparable diagnostic efficiencies; thus, they may represent alternative imaging markers for predicting unfavorable outcomes of acute ischemic stroke in MCA territory. Prognostic value of pretreatment diffusion-weighted imaging score for acute basilar artery occlusion with successful endovascular recanalization
ConclusionsThe PMT score seems to predict clinical outcome of ABAO patients with successful recanalization.

Ruptured brain arteriovenous malformations associated with aneurysms: safety and efficacy of selective embolization in the acute phase of hemorrhage
Conclusion Selective embolization of arterial aneurysms associated with ruptured AVMs is a safe procedure and could lower the immediate risk of rebleeding.

Impact and Effectiveness of Dual Aspiration Technique in Stent-Assisted Mechanical Thrombectomy: Recent Improvements in Acute Stroke Management
ConclusionsThe dual aspiration technique with an additional intermediate guide catheter placed closed to the stent retriever leads to decreased procedure time in the anterior circulation. Even in cases with higher thrombus load and treated in DAT, clinical outcome improved.

Mechanical Thrombectomy for Pediatric Large Vessel Occlusions
ConclusionIn our meta-analysis, MT demonstrated a  promising safety and efficacy profile for pediatric patients, with consistently high efficacy outcomes and low complication rates. Our results support the utilization of MT in pediatric LVOs; however, prospective studies are still needed to further establish the role of pediatric MT as a first-li ne treatment strategy.
