Acceptability of Lycra arm sleeve in people with sub-acute stroke: patients ’, carers’ and clinicians’ perspectives
Previous studies found that the Lycra sleeve has potential to reduce glenohumeral subluxation in people with stroke. The primary aim of this study was to explore the acceptability of the Lycra sleeve from patients ’, carers’ and staff perceptive in the sub-acute phase of stroke.

Efficacy of sitting balance training with delayed visual feedback among patients with stroke: a randomized crossover clinical trial
Conclusion] Sensory-motor and cognitive learning was facilitated through balance training with delayed visual feedback, and the internal model was updated with the efference copy of error correction. Sensory-motor feedback to visual stimulation can improve postural control, balance, and activities of daily living.PMID:35937630 | PMC:PMC9345753 | DOI:10.1589/jpts.34.540

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 9233: A Literature Review of High-Tech Physiotherapy Interventions in the Elderly with Neurological Disorders
telarou Neurological physiotherapy adopts a problem-based approach for each patient as determined by a thorough evaluation of the patient’s physical and mental well-being. Τhis work aims to provide a literature review of physical therapy interventions in the elderly with neurological diseases (NDs) and discuss physiotherapy procedures and methods that utilize cutting-edge technologies for which clinical studies are available. Hence, the review focuses on acute NDs (stroke), deteriorating NDs (Parkinson’s disease), and age-related cognitive impairment. The most used physiotherapy ...

Effect of home-based interventions on basic activities of daily living for patients who had a stroke: a systematic review with meta-analysis
Conclusion Home-based rehabilitation with usual care, which varied from no therapy to inpatient or outpatient therapy, may have a short-term effect on the ability to do basic activities of daily living for patients who had a stroke compared with usual care alone. However, the evidence quality is low because of the limited number of studies and participants included in the meta-analysis and the possible publication bias. Future research is needed to investigate the effectiveness of home-based rehabilitation in groups with stratification by stroke severity and time since stroke onset, with elaboration of details of the home-...

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 9112: Measured and Perceived Effects of Upper Limb Home-Based Exergaming Interventions on Activity after Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
andigout After discharge from the hospital to home, stroke patients may experience weakness and reduced movement in their hemiparetic arms that limits their ability to perform daily activities. Therapists can use exercise games (exergames) to maintain functional abilities and daily use of the arm at home. A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to determine the efficiency of upper limb home-based rehabilitation, using exergaming on activity abilities in stroke. Randomized controlled trials were reviewed in the CENTRAL, MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE, and SCOPUS online databases. Clinical measures of o...

Effects of virtual reality in the early-stage stroke rehabilitation: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
CONCLUSION: VR is a feasible approach and demonstrates comparable effectiveness in functional outcomes with conventional rehabilitation in patients with stroke at the early-stage. Further research focusing on the application of VR in acute stroke survivors with adequate sample size, additional follow-up evaluation and valid outcome measures are warranted.PMID:35801290 | DOI:10.1080/09593985.2022.2094302

Patient and therapist perspectives on physical therapy outcome measures and engagement after stroke: A case study
CONCLUSION: Patients valued the objective results of outcome measures and were encouraged by measurable changes. Maximizing the use of physical therapy outcome measures may improve patient engagement and support relational autonomy.PMID:35786128 | DOI:10.1080/09593985.2022.2092801
