Association of Coronary Artery Calcium Detected by Routine Ungated CT Imaging With Cardiovascular Outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: Incidental CAC ≥100 was associated with an increased risk of all-cause death and adverse cardiovascular outcomes, beyond traditional risk factors. DL-CAC from routine non-ECG-gated CTs identifies patients at increased cardiovascular risk and holds promise as a tool for opportunistic screening to facilitate earlier intervention.PMID:37704309 | DOI:10.1016/j.jacc.2023.06.040

Association Between Spotty Calcification in Nonstenosing Extracranial Carotid Artery Plaque and Ipsilateral Ischemic Stroke
Conclusions Spotty calcifications associated with low-density plaque and maximum plaque thickness were associated with ipsilateral ischemic stroke in patients with nonstenotic carotid atherosclerosis, suggesting a role as imaging markers of high-risk plaque.PMID:37183863 | DOI:10.1161/JAHA.122.028525

Guidelines for reasonable and appropriate care in the emergency department 3 (GRACE-3): Acute dizziness and vertigo in the emergency department
Acad Emerg Med. 2023 May;30(5):442-486. doi: 10.1111/acem.14728.ABSTRACTThis third Guideline for Reasonable and Appropriate Care in the Emergency Department (GRACE-3) from the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine is on the topic adult patients with acute dizziness and vertigo in the emergency department (ED). A multidisciplinary guideline panel applied the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach to assess the certainty of evidence and strength of recommendations regarding five questions for adult ED patients with acute dizziness of less than 2 weeks' duration. The intended pop...

Long-Term Follow-Up of Cerebral Aneurysms Completely Occluded at 6  Months After Intervention with the Woven EndoBridge (WEB) Device: a Retrospective Multicenter Observational Study
This study underlines the importance of repeat imaging in patients treated with the WEB device even if complete occlusio n is achieved short term. Follow-up can be performed using DSA, MRA or CTA with no difference in positive predictive value.

Embolic Events After Computed Tomography Contrast Injection in Patients With Interatrial Shunts: A Cohort Study
Conclusion: Among patients with echocardiographic evidence of an interatrial shunt, IV CT contrast administration without an in-line filter does not increase the incidence of cardiac or neurological events.

Outcomes of endovascular thrombectomy in patients selected by computed tomography perfusion imaging - a matched cohort study comparing nonagenarians to younger patients
Conclusions Nonagenarians were noted to have greater mortality and sICH rates following EVT compared with matched younger patients, which may be ameliorated by selecting patients with smaller CTP core volumes. Nonagenarians undergoing EVT had similar rates of successful reperfusion and functional independence compared with the younger cohort.

Safety, Efficacy, and Cost-Effectiveness of Same-Day Discharge for Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion
CONCLUSIONS: Same-day discharge strategy for LAAO appears safe, feasible and could become the new standard approach for LAAO. A protocol including CTA pre-procedural planning, ICE-guided deployment and conscious sedation reduces hospital occupation and lowers costs.PMID:35100555
