Does examining job market awareness among medical students provide insight into the specialty selection process?
CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated the utility of querying medical students about their market awareness when investigating the specialty selection process. Students' poor rating of selection criteria, such as specialties with ease in finding jobs because they are suffering workforce shortages and have empty positions, provide insights and concerns for healthcare leaders. It should aid them in approaching the challenge of attracting students to specialties with workforce shortfalls.KEY MESSAGESThis study demonstrated the feasibility and potential value of adding queries about market awareness when investigating the medic...

So what are the best resources I should be using in my job search?
For context I’m a PGY4 at a big Northeast city residency program. I’m originally from California and hope to move back there, specifically the Bay Area (or Seattle since my significant other has family there) but regardless I’ll be moving to a place with no connections. Looking for an outpatient position. I’ve looked through the APA jobs site as well as places like PracticeLink but it seems Kaiser and LifeStance take up most of those listings and I’m not sure those are places I want to work... FM vs IM for practicing in the Southwest?
Hey all. I'm an MS3 debating between FM and IM. After residency I'll definitely be looking to work in SoCal, Arizona, or Nevada (for family reasons) and I'm trying to figure out if being FM or IM would make a major difference when it comes to finding PCP jobs in those places. From my cursory search on Google, it seems like FM may be slightly more sought after? Am I totally off the mark? For reference, I would be looking at major metro areas like LA, PHX, LV etc.

Prospective 5-Year Analysis of the United States Radiation Oncology Job Market using the ASTRO Career Center Website
CONCLUSION: This multi-year quantitative assessment of the RO job market and graduates identified fewer job opportunities than graduates overall in most regions, most notably in the Northeast. Regional differences were seen between available job type (academic vs. non-academic) and population size (>1M vs. ≤1M). The findings are worrisome for trainee oversupply and geographic maldistribution. The number and distribution of RO trainees and residency programs across the United States should be evaluated to minimize job market imbalance for future graduates, promote workforce stability and continue to meet the future soc...

hospitalist job search
Hello Guys, I am trying to leave my current hospitalist job to move a bigger city (or closer to desirable major city - 1-2 hours). This would be my third full time job since residency (2017 grad). Been at last job for 2.5 years. My first job out of residency, I was underpaid (20$/hr less than my peers) by a CMG and I curse them out after I left. I also do locum jobs while working my full time job. I have a clean file. I have gone to 5 interviews so far and not one single offer. What am I... Read more

Randolph Hospital (the old/bankrupt Randolph) vs. Cone Healthcare: " Self-dealing " And Unethical Business Practices. DUH. It ' s Not Like I Did Not Tell You So.
Before we even get started (and for the record), I was born at Cone Hospital.  For years, I admired it from afar. But that was before . . .Once upon a time, twenty-four years ago this month, the executives running my hometown hospital (Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, North Carolina), fired me ( " without cause " ) . . . two weeks after I answered a terrified LDRP charge nurse ' s call in the middle of the night - to intervene in a neonatal case where the managing Family Practitioner was so " lost " that the nurse feared the baby would die before I could get there.  The FP (who later styled himself to the baby ...

OMFS job search
When you're applying to OMFS jobs out of residency for a private practice, is it expected that whoever is interviewing you fly you out and pay for your hotel? I was not sure what the etiquette is. My boyfriend is in business and he thinks that is expected, but I didn't get any offers to pay for my ticket or reimbursement to fly out to meet the partners in person. I don't want to come across rude, but I'm not sure whats normal and if that's something I should ask for. Any thoughts for someone... Read more

Physicians: Stop dreading call
Even though I completed residency almost 15 years ago, it is easy to remember the dread I experienced before taking hospital call. The sinking feeling in my stomach as the call date loomed near, the hypervigilance and terror every time my beeper went off in the middle of the night, the fear of imagined catastrophesRead more …Find jobs at  Careers by KevinMD.com.  Search thousands of physician, PA, NP, and CRNA jobs now.  Learn more.

Drivers of Scope of Practice in Family Medicine: A Conceptual Model
CONCLUSIONS: Our study indicates that the national trend toward family physicians narrowing their scope of practice can be addressed by providing specific supports during training, residency, and mid-career. Understanding personal, workplace, environmental, and population factors that influence scope of practice can inform specific interventions that create desirable jobs for family physicians and improve their ability to meet changing population needs.PMID:34180841 | DOI:10.1370/afm.2669

Physicians and the midlife dip PODCAST
“We all go through our early lives in the S-curve of our medical education –college, medical school, residency, early practice. As you reach the mastery phase, I would posit that there is a downward dip as we realize that we are no longer in that exciting hypergrowth phase. The search for a new curve happens, theRead more …Find jobs at  Careers by KevinMD.com.  Search thousands of physician, PA, NP, and CRNA jobs now.  Learn more.
