Cilostazol is Effective to Prevent Stroke-Associated Pneumonia in Patients Receiving Tube Feeding
AbstractStroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) is a frequent complication in acute ischemic stroke (IS) patients, especially those receiving tube feeding (TF). In this retrospective study, we investigated whether or not cilostazol, a pluripotent phosphodiesterase III-specific inhibitor with anti-platelet and vasculogenic effects, can prevent SAP in these patients and reduce their duration of stay in intensive care unit/hospitalization. We recruited 158 IS patients receiving TF. Patients ’ characteristics (including age, gender, past history), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale and serum albumin level on admission, conc...

Dual Antiplatelet Therapy With Cilostazol Cuts Recurrent Stroke Dual Antiplatelet Therapy With Cilostazol Cuts Recurrent Stroke
New results show cilostazol plus aspirin or clopidogrel reduced recurrent stroke rate by half over aspirin or clopidogrel alone in high-risk stroke patients without increased bleeding.Medscape Medical News

Cilostazol Addition to Aspirin could not Reduce the Neurological Deterioration in TOAST Subtypes: ADS Post-Hoc Analysis
Our previous trial acute dual study (ADS) reported that dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) using cilostazol and aspirin did not reduce the rate of short-term neurological worsening in non-cardioembolic stroke patients. Present post-hoc analysis investigated whether the impact of combined cilostazol and aspirin differed among stroke subtypes and factors associated with neurological deterioration and/or stroke recurrence.

Comparison of Cilostazol versus Clopidogrel in Addition to Aspirin in Patients with Ischemic Stroke who Underwent Intracranial or Extracranial Artery Stent Implantation
CONCLUSIONS: Cilostazol-based dual antiplatelet therapy could be recommended as an effective and safe therapy regimen among patients undergoing intracranial or extracranial artery stent implantation.PMID:36328566 | DOI:10.5551/jat.63632

Antithrombotic treatment after stroke due to intracerebral haemorrhage
CONCLUSIONS: We did not identify beneficial or hazardous effects of short-term prophylactic dose parenteral anticoagulation and long-term oral antiplatelet therapy after ICH on important outcomes. Although there was a significant reduction in MACE and all major occlusive vascular events after long-term treatment with therapeutic dose oral anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation after ICH, the pooled estimates were imprecise, the certainty of evidence was only moderate, and effects on other important outcomes were uncertain. Large RCTs with a low risk of bias are required to resolve the ongoing dilemmas about antithrombotic...

Prospective Registry of Carotid Artery Stenting in Japan—Investigation on Device and Antiplatelet for Carotid Artery Stenting
Background: Carotid artery stenting (CAS) is minimally invasive but may cause perioperative cerebral infarction associated with distal embolization. We conducted a multicenter prospective observational study on the onset of vascular events after CAS to find out the efficacy and safety of CAS in Japan and to investigate the effects of antiplatelet drugs administered before and after CAS on efficacy and safety of CAS.Methods: A total of 949 patients with cervical carotid artery stenosis were enrolled at 43 institutions in Japan; 934 who had undergone CAS with antiplatelet drugs and followed for 1 year were analyzed. Primary ...
