The effects of the differentiated macrophages by dexamethasone on the immune responses
Int Immunopharmacol. 2023 Aug 20;124(Pt A):110826. doi: 10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110826. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe characteristics of M2 macrophages suggest immunotherapeutic approaches for inducing immunological tolerance. The current study aimed to evaluate the effect of Dexamethasone (Dex) treatment on monocytes polarization and its impact on immune responses. The monocytes were extracted from the rat's blood samples. The effects of Dex concentration and treatment duration on monocyte viability, phagocytosis of rabbit red blood cell (RRBC) antigens, and cytokine gene expression were evaluated using MTT, ELISA, and ...

Local Dexamethasone Administration Delays Allogeneic Islet Graft Rejection in the Anterior Chamber of the Eye of Non-Human Primates
Cell Transplant. 2022 Jan-Dec;31:9636897221098038. doi: 10.1177/09636897221098038.ABSTRACTPancreatic islet transplantation into the anterior chamber of the eye (ACE) has been shown to improve glycemic control and metabolic parameters of diabetes in both murine and primate models. This novel transplantation site also allows the delivery of therapeutic agents, such as immunosuppressive drugs, locally to prevent islet graft rejection and circumvent unwanted systemic side effects. Local intravitreal administration of micronized dexamethasone implant was performed prior to allogeneic islet transplantation into the ACEs of non-h...

The Immunomodulating Effects of Thalidomide and Dexamethasone in a Murine Cardiac Allograft Transplantation Model
CONCLUSION: These outcomes suggest the immunomodulating effect of the TM/DX combinatorial treatment. In conclusion, TM/DX combination may be a promising immunomodulatory approach for preventing allograft rejection and improving graft survival by inducing tolerance in transplantation.PMID:35083901 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2022.63.2.158
