Sustained neurotrophin-3 delivery from hyaluronic acid hydrogels for neural tissue regeneration
J Biomed Mater Res A. 2023 Sep 7. doi: 10.1002/jbm.a.37596. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe goal of this work was to design a polymer-based platform capable of localized, long-term delivery of biologically active neurotropic factors using an affinity-based approach. Here, we synthesized hyaluronic acid-methylfuran (HA-mF) hydrogels that provide sustained, affinity-based release of neurotrophin-3 (NT-3), a growth factor that promotes axon growth for 28 days. A Diels-Alder crosslinking reaction between HA-mF and polyethylene glycol (PEG)-dimaleimide occurs within 15 min under physiological conditions, resulting in hydrogel...

Efficient delivery of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells to injured liver by surface PEGylation
CONCLUSION: These results indicate that PEG modification to the surface of MSCs can suppress the lung entrapment of intravenously administered MSCs and improve their homing to the injured liver.PMID:37608303 | DOI:10.1186/s13287-023-03446-w

pH-influenced self-assembled stealth nanoscaffolds encapsulating memantine for treatment of Alzheimer's disease
In this study, polyethylene glycol (PEG)-coated poly D, L-lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) nanostructures were prepared, as their self-assembling ability helps to penetrate the drug at disease sites with altered pH range (5.7-6.8) due to AD. Drug and polymer interaction studies by FTIR showed no interaction among them, and the thermal properties of drugs, polymers, and nanostructures tell us about their melting behaviour, thermal degradation, and glass transition temperatures. Characterization of prepared self-assembled nanoscaffolds signifies that the acquired properties such as size, structure, surface charges, zeta-potent...
