Study of Pharmacodynamic and Pharmacokinetic Interaction of Bojungikki-Tang with Aspirin in Healthy Subjects and Ischemic Stroke Patients.
Conclusions: These results suggest that coadministration of BJIKT with aspirin may not result in herb-drug interaction. PMID: 29599812 [PubMed]

Effect of Alteplase Thrombolysis on Coagulation Function and Nerve Function of Patients with Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSION: Alteplase thrombolysis showed benefits in mitigating the coagulation function and nerve function damage of patients with ischemic stroke, especially within 3 hours after the onset, with a high safety profile.PMID:35586691 | PMC:PMC9110162 | DOI:10.1155/2022/9440271

Antrodia camphorata Potentiates Neuroprotection against Cerebral Ischemia in Rats via Downregulation of iNOS/HO-1/Bax and Activated Caspase-3 and Inhibition of Hydroxyl Radical Formation.
In this study, we sought to investigate the molecular mechanisms of neuroprotective effects of A. camphorata in middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rats. A selective occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) with whole blood clots was used to induce ischemic stroke in rats and they were orally treated with A. camphorata (0.25 and 0.75 g/kg/day) alone or combined with aspirin (5 mg/kg/day). To provide insight into the functions of A. camphorata mediated neuroprotection, the expression of Bax, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), haem oxygenase-1 (HO-1), and activated caspase-3 was determined by Western blot a...

Resolution (and Late Recurrence) of WATCHMAN Device–Related Thrombus Following Treatment with Dabigatran
The WATCHMAN left atrial (LA) appendage closure system is an alternative therapy for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation who are intolerant to chronic oral anticoagulation with warfarin. Infrequently, LA device–related thrombus (DRT) has been suspected. Optimal treatment of DRT is not known, and the efficacy of novel oral anticoagulants (NOAC) in this setting has not been previously described. A 69‐year‐old woman with permanent atrial fibrillation underwent WATCHMAN device placement. A transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) performed 45 days following implant revealed a well‐seated device. A 1‐ye...

The Development of an In Vitro Assay for the Prospective Determination of Aspirin Sensitivity.
Abstract Aspirin remains the standard for stroke prophylaxis. However, as many as 20%-25% of patients may fail to show a full response to aspirin. Ideally, patients who are resistant to aspirin could be identified, then receive an increased dose of aspirin or be changed to an alternative therapy more efficiently. We have developed an in vitro assay that may make this possible. Healthy volunteers (n = 13) between 18 and 50 years of age were tested for both ex vivo and in vivo responses to aspirin. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was selected as the solvent for aspirin in the assay. DMSO can exhibit antiplatelet effects, ...

Ticagrelor as an Alternative Antiplatelet Therapy in Cardiac Patients Non-Sensitive to Aspirin.
Conclusions: Our results suggest that ticagrelor is a promising alternative therapy for patients who are non-sensitive to ASA. PMID: 33023261 [PubMed - in process]
