A functional recovery profile for patients with stroke following post-acute rehabilitation care in Taiwan.
CONCLUSIONS: This study showed that the PAC rehabilitation unit was beneficial for patients with acute stroke who had functional impairments. The study results may call for further investigation to identify and develop better models for the delivery of rehabilitation in the stroke PAC unit. PMID: 31147198 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Predictors and associating factors of nasogastric tube removal: Clinical and brain imaging data analysis in post-stroke dysphagia.
CONCLUSION: In Taiwan, the NG tube removal rate reached a plateau at around 12-16 weeks after stroke onset. Variables related to long-term NG tube use were divided into baseline characteristics of patient and stroke event severity. PMID: 32199716 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Three years of the nationwide post-acute stroke care program in Taiwan
In conclusion, the Taiwan's PAC-CVD program is an innovative and essentially effective national program of post-acute stroke care. We believe such experience should be helpful for policy makers of stroke care worldwide.

Quality and safety of Telemedicine in acute ischemic stroke: Early experience in Taiwan
CONCLUSION: In the ED, consultation via the telestroke program provides equal quality to the original face-to-face consultation model to manage ischemic stroke.PMID:33994236 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2021.04.024

Prognostic factors of functional outcome in post-acute stroke in the rehabilitation unit
CONCLUSION: Baseline ADL function was the most important prognostic factor of functional independence in post-acute stroke. Moreover, the activity limitation of dependency on sitting up and motor function impairment of hemiplegic lower limb prognosticated functional independence.PMID:34303583 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2021.07.009

Clinical outcomes and prognostic factors for prolonged mechanical ventilation in patients with acute stroke and brain trauma
CONCLUSION: Reduced RCC GCS score is an independent prognostic factor for weaning failure, and is associated with increased in-hospital mortality rates in patients with acute stroke and brain trauma requiring PMV.PMID:33750622 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2021.02.011

PCSK9 inhibition in patients with acute stroke and symptomatic intracranial atherosclerosis: protocol for a prospective, randomised, open-label, blinded end-point trial with vessel-wall MR imaging
Introduction Dual antiplatelet therapy and high-intensity statins are the mainstay treatment in patients with acute stage, symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS). Alirocumab is a monoclonal antibody that can inhibit proprotein convertase subtilisin–kexin type 9 and effectively lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels with less side effects than statins. We hypothesise that alirocumab treatment in addition to statin therapy could stabilise intracranial plaque and reduce arterial stenosis. Methods and analysis In this prospective, randomised, open-label, blinded end-point study, we will use h...
