Preliminary Experience of the Surpass Streamline Flow Diverter for Large and Giant Unruptured Internal Carotid Artery Aneurysms
Neurol Med Chir (Tokyo). 2022 Sep 6. doi: 10.2176/jns-nmc.2022-0167. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAs of January 2021, the Surpass Streamline (SS) is the most recently approved flow diverter in Japan. A total of 28 Japanese patients, including 9 clinical trial patients, with 28 large or giant unruptured internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysms, underwent SS embolization at Juntendo University Hospital. Procedural failure occurred in two patients due to the difficulty to navigate the device in the tortuous parent artery. Therefore, 26 patients with 26 aneurysms were available for clinical and anatomical assessments. Patients...

Efficacy of the Drip and Ship Method in 24-h Helicopter Transportation and Teleradiology for Isolated Islands.
We examined the efficacy of the drip and ship (DS) method for treating patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) on these islands, in comparison with patients on the mainland. From 2010 to 2017, we reviewed 98 consecutive patients with AIS who received intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (IV rt-PA) in our hospital or were transported to our hospital after IV rt-PA. Patients were divided into the Islands group (received IV rt-PA on the islands, DS; 31 cases) and the Mainland group (67 cases). The median transport distance from the islands was 112 km. The rate of patients achieving favorable outcomes was 54....

Effects of a Pharmacist-Led Educational Interventional Program on Electronic Monitoring-Assessed Adherence to Direct Oral Anticoagulants: A Randomized, Controlled Trial in Patients with Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation
In this study, the selection of DOACs was not randomized, and the lack of assessment of the association between adherence to DOACs and clinical outcomes was a limitation. One-Year Outcome of Patients with Chest Pain in the Rule-Out Group According to the 0-Hour/1-Hour Algorithm
Int Heart J. 2023;64(4):590-595. doi: 10.1536/ihj.23-076.ABSTRACTThe European Society of Cardiology recommends the 0/1-hour algorithm for risk stratification of patients with suspected non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction as class I, level B; however, there are few reports on the long-term prognosis, resulting in a rule-out group. We aimed to determine whether implementation of the 0-hour/1-hour algorithm is safe and effective in emergency department (ED) patients with possible acute coronary syndrome (ACS) through a 1-year follow-up period. Our study analyzed the 1-year follow-up data from a prospective pre-post study o...
