Preventive health care in blood cancer survivors: results from the ABC study
CONCLUSIONS: Utilization of preventive care is high among German blood cancer survivors. To ensure widespread delivery and avoid redundancy, communication between oncologists and preventive care providers is essential.PMID:37395845 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-04984-9

Did the change of the vaccination schedule effect pneumococcal conjugate vaccination compliance and adherence of premature and mature born infants in Germany? Answers from a claims database analysis
CONCLUSION: There is no proven evidence that the reduced PCV schedule for mature infants induced a higher acceptance of vaccination. The rate of unvaccinated infants remained at a considerable level and vaccinations were often delayed. Although the STIKO still recommends a 3+1 PCV schedule for premature infants in Germany, less than half of children showed a completed vaccination series. To protect these vulnerable groups, efforts are needed to increase adherence to the STIKO recommendation especially for premature infants.PMID:37263871 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.05.045

Influenza, Pneumococcal and Herpes Zoster Vaccination Rates in Patients with Autoimmune Inflammatory Rheumatic Diseases
CONCLUSIONS: The frequencies of vaccinations against influenza, Streptococcus pneumoniae and HZ have increased during recent years. While this can be partly explained by continuous efforts in patient education during the outpatient visits, the COVID-19 pandemic might also have contributed. Nevertheless, the persistently high incidence and mortality of these preventable diseases in patients with AIIRDs mandates further efforts to increase vaccination coverage, particularly in SLE patients.PMID:37112672 | PMC:PMC10146832 | DOI:10.3390/vaccines11040760

Controlled non-randomised before-after study evaluating the impact of a focused recommendation card on vaccination rates of oncological patients-The Easy Vaccination in Oncology (EVO) strategy
CONCLUSION: This easy-to-implement and resource-saving approach has the potential to increase vaccination rates in oncological patients and to have a considerable impact protecting oncological patients from preventable infectious diseases.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: The study was registered at the German Resister for Clinical Studies (DRKS) under DRKS00020118.PMID:36221170 | DOI:10.1111/ecc.13725

Radio public service announcements to promote vaccinations for older adults: Effects of framing and distraction
This article investigates the effects of message framing and distraction on older adults' responses to a radio public service announcement (PSA) to promote influenza and pneumococci vaccinations. In detail, it addresses the message impact on recognition, attitudes toward the ad, and information-seeking intentions. The 2 × 2 online experiment was conducted in August 2019 in Germany. 378 participants aged 60 years and above received a radio PSA with either gain- or loss-framed messages (factor 1). Additionally, half of the participants completed a distraction task while listening (factor 2). Gain frames (η2p =.02) and a no...
