Evaluation of serum levels of homocysteine and C-reactive protein in patients with ischemic stroke
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2022 Jul 31;68(7):56-62. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2022.68.7.10.ABSTRACTStroke is the third most common cause of death in the world. Plasma homocysteine is an emerging risk factor for stroke. Also, previous studies have shown that serum levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) are significantly associated with mortality and function in patients with ischemic stroke. In the present study, we examined homocysteine and serum CRP levels in patients with ischemic stroke. This descriptive-analytical study was performed on 100 patients with ischemic stroke. Rehabilitation in Geriatric Patients after Ischemic Stroke - A Comparison of 2 Organisational Systems in Germany Using Claims Data of a Statutory Health Insurance Fund.
Abstract Due to historical aspects in some federal states in Germany rehabilitation of geriatric patients is organized in geriatric departments in hospitals (§ 109 SGB V). In other states rehabilitation of these patients is mainly realized in geriatric rehabilitation facilities outside hospital care after approval by the health insurance (§ 111 SGB V). Guideline conform diagnostics for dysphagia : A  representative survey of speech therapists at certified stroke units in Germany.
CONCLUSION: The implementation of a detailed and differentiated anamnesis, standardized screening, and a clinical swallowing examination with testing of different food consistencies suggests a high quality of the dysphagia diagnostics at stroke units in Germany. The increasing availability of technical instruments, especially fiber endoscopy, substantiates this view. PMID: 28382486 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Treatment goals in patients with post-stroke upper limb spasticity following injection of botulinum toxin  A : Results of the German-Austrian subgroup of the ULIS-II study.
CONCLUSION: A single injection of BoNT-A in adult patients with post-stroke spasticity of the arm led to a high response rate of approximately 80% in both cohorts. The BoNT-A injections in post-stroke adult patients contributed to an improvement in the daily life of patients and their carers beyond simple reduction of muscle tone or spasticity.
