A postpartum intervention for vaccination promotion by midwives using motivational interviews reduces mothers' vaccine hesitancy, south-eastern France, 2021 to 2022: a randomised controlled trial
ConclusionsOur results show positive effects of MI intervention, and means of its implementation should be investigated in France.PMID:37733238 | DOI:10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2023.28.38.2200819

Two cases of extensively drug-resistant (XDR) < em > Neisseria gonorrhoeae < /em > infection combining ceftriaxone-resistance and high-level azithromycin resistance, France, November 2022 and May 2023
We report two extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) isolates combining high-level resistance to azithromycin and resistance to ceftriaxone, obtained in France from two heterosexual patients, one of whom returned from Cambodia. Whole genome sequencing identified MLST ST16406, the mosaic penA-60.001 which caused ceftriaxone resistance in the internationally spreading FC428 clone, and the A2059G mutation in the 23S rRNA gene. The NG isolates F93 and F94 were related to XDR isolates detected in Austria and the United Kingdom in 2022.PMID:37707979 | DOI:10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2023.28.37.2300456

Prevalence, Risk factors, and Shedding of Human Herpes Virus-8 among Men Having Sex With Men Enrolled in a Pre-exposure Prophylaxis Study
CONCLUSION: Prevalence and incidence of HHV-8 infection were high in HIV-negative PrEP users. Among seropositive participants, HHV-8 DNA is mainly detected in saliva, which may play a major role in viral transmission in this population.PMID:37623814 | DOI:10.1093/cid/ciad502

Population Analysis of Escherichia coli Sequence Type 361 and Reduced Cefiderocol Susceptibility, France
Emerg Infect Dis. 2023 Sep;29(9):1877-1881. doi: 10.3201/eid2909.230390.ABSTRACTCefiderocol resistance is increasingly reported in New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales. Genomic and phenotypic analysis of Escherichia coli sequence type 361, a primary clone causing carbapenemase spread in France, revealed mutations leading to cefiderocol resistance. Continued genomic surveillance of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales could clarify prevalence of cefiderocol-resistant E. coli in Europe.PMID:37610183 | DOI:10.3201/eid2909.230390

Immune checkpoint inhibitor-induced neurotoxicity is not associated with seroprevalence of neurotropic infections
CONCLUSION: Previous viral, bacterial and protozoal neurotropic infections appear not to be associated with the development of neurological irAEs in melanoma patients who underwent therapy with ICI across 3 countries. Further efforts are needed to unravel the factors underlying neurological irAEs in order to identify risk factors for these toxicities, especially with the increasing use of ICI in earlier stage disease.PMID:37606856 | DOI:10.1007/s00262-023-03498-0

Studying the Tonkean macaques of Strasbourg, a tale full of sound and fury
Primates. 2023 Aug 19. doi: 10.1007/s10329-023-01088-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this paper, I chronicle the Strasbourg population of Tonkean macaques (Macaca tonkeana) over a period of half a century. In 1972, Tonkean macaques were imported from Sulawesi, Indonesia, to eastern France, leading to the establishment of two social groups in the Strasbourg region several years later. Our research team studied the social behavior and cognitive abilities of these Tonkean macaques for four decades. The species is characterized by a high degree of social tolerance. This has proven to be very informative in comparative stud...

Seroprevalence for < em > Borrelia burgdorferi < /em > sensu lato and tick-borne encephalitis virus antibodies and associated risk factors among forestry workers in northern France, 2019 to 2020
ConclusionWe assessed for the first time seroprevalence of B. burgdorferi sl and TBEV antibodies among forestry workers in northern France. These results will be used, together with data on LB and tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) incidence and on exposure to tick-bites, to target prevention programmes.PMID:37561054 | DOI:10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2023.28.32.2200961
