Genetic Variations of CYP19A1 Gene and Stroke Susceptibility: A Case–Control Study in the Chinese Han Population
This study aimed to explore the association between genetic variations of CYP19A1 and stroke susceptibility in the Chinese Han population. Methods: A total of 477 stroke patients and 480 healthy controls were recruited in this study. The genotyping of CYP19A1 polymorphisms (rs4646, rs6493487, rs1062033, rs17601876, and rs3751599) was performed by the Agena MassARRAY platform. Under logistic regression models, we evaluated the associations of CYP19A1 polymorphisms and stroke susceptibility by odds ratio and 95% confidence interval. Results: Our study showed that rs4646 (codominant: P = 0.020; recessive: P = 0.016) and...

Predictive Value of the ABCD3-I for Short- and Long-Term Stroke after TIA with or without sICAS
CONCLUSIONS: ABCD3-I score performed well in predicting short-term risk of a stroke after an index TIA in patients with or without sICAS. However, the predictive power decayed with the prolonged period, and the decayed extent was more pronounced among those with sICAS. The assessment of sICAS is a non-ignorable item when using the ABCD3-I score for long-term stroke risk prediction in patients with TIA.PMID:34744099 | DOI:10.5551/jat.63050

Cost-effectiveness of a Household Salt Substitution Intervention: Findings From 20,995 Participants of the Salt Substitute and Stroke Study (SSaSS)
Conclusions: Replacing regular salt with salt substitute was a cost-saving intervention for the prevention of stroke and improvement of quality of life amongst the SSaSS participants.PMID:35311346 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.122.059573

Association Between High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein and Prognosis in Different Periods After Ischemic Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack
Conclusions Elevated levels of hsCRP measured in the first 72 hours after ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack but not 72 hours to 8 days, were associated with an increased risk of 1-year stroke recurrence.PMID:35766270 | DOI:10.1161/JAHA.122.025464

Impact of miR-200b and miR-495 variants on the risk of large-artery atherosclerosis stroke
Metab Brain Dis. 2022 Nov 14. doi: 10.1007/s11011-022-01119-w. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSingle-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of microRNAs (miRNAs) may alter miRNA transcription, maturation and target specificity, thus affecting stroke susceptibility. We aimed to investigate whether miR-200b and miR-495 SNPs may be associated with ischemic stroke (IS) risk and further explore underlying mechanisms including related genes and pathways. MiR-200b rs7549819 and miR-495 rs2281611 polymorphisms were genotyped among 712 large-artery atherosclerosis (LAA) stroke patients and 1,076 controls in a case-control study. Bioinforma...

High-Sensitivity C-reactive Protein and Intracranial Arterial Stenosis Predicted Recurrent Stroke and Dependence or Death in Minor Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack
CONCLUSION: Concomitant presence of increased hsCRP levels and ICAS was associated with increased risk of stroke recurrence and dependence or death in patients with minor ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack.PMID:37704441 | DOI:10.5551/jat.64229
