Ginsenoside Rg5 Improves Sleep by Regulating Energy Metabolism in Sleep-Deprived Rats
Am J Chin Med. 2023 Sep 4:1-20. doi: 10.1142/S0192415X23500817. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSleep deprivation (SD) has become a universal social problem. There is a causal relationship between SD and energy metabolism disorder. Phytochemicals have been demonstrated to have excellent sleep-promoting effects, and studies have shown that ginsenoside Rg5 (Rg5) exerts sedative and hypnotic effects. The present study aimed to investigate the role of Rg5 in regulating energy metabolism and explore the potential mechanism of improving sleep. Sleep-deprived rats were randomly divided into a control group (Ctrl), SD model group (S...

Insights into research on myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury from 2012 to 2021: a bibliometric analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The present study reveals the influential authors, cooperating institutions, and main research foci in the field of MI/R injury in the past decade. The latest hotspots are a more in-depth insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying MI/R injury, such as mitochondrial quality control, non-coding RNAs, cell proliferation, and extracellular vesicles.PMID:36624514 | PMC:PMC9827672 | DOI:10.1186/s40001-022-00967-7

Effect of melatonin on oxidative stress indicators in animal models of fibrosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Our research findings showed that melatonin supplementation could significantly reduce the levels of oxidative indicators including MDA, LPO and NO and elevate the levels of antioxidant indicators including GSH, GPx and SOD so as to correct oxidative stress in animal models of fibrosis. However, no significant changes were observed in CAT level. More clinical studies are needed to further confirm the beneficial role of melatonin in fibrotic diseases.PMID:36586451 | DOI:10.1016/j.freeradbiomed.2022.12.094
