Development of solid dispersions based on 3- (2,6-difluorobenzyl) -5- (5-bromo-1H-indol-3-ylmethylene) thiazolidine-2,4-dione for schistosomicidal treatment
This study focused on increasing the aqueous solubility of LPSF/GQ-238 by obtaining solid dispersions. Were prepared by the solvent techniques, using Soluplus®, Polyethylene glycol (PEG), and Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP-K30) as carriers. Solubility tests, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Exploratory Differential Calorimetry (DSC), and Raman Spectroscopy characterized these new intermediate products. The solubility tests showed that the higher the proportion of polymer used in the preparation of the dispersion, the greater the solubility presented. The observation of the morphology by SEM analysis...

"pySewage": a hybrid approach to predict the number of SARS-CoV-2-infected people from wastewater in Brazil
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2022 May 6. doi: 10.1007/s11356-022-20609-z. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIt is well known that the new coronavirus pandemic has global environmental, public health, and economic implications. In this sense, this study aims to monitor SARS-CoV-2 in the largest wastewater treatment plant of Goiânia, which processes wastewater from more than 700,000 inhabitants, and to correlate the molecular and clinical data collected. Influent and effluent samples were collected at Dr. Helio de Seixo Britto's wastewater treatment plant from January to August 2021. Viral concentration was performed with polyet...

Management of children with functional constipation referred to tertiary care
CONCLUSIONS: Children with FC are often referred to specialized care not receiving optimal therapy. Many patients whose FC was labeled "refractory" may be treated successfully with a well-established plan of care, and do not truly present intractable constipation.PMID:34506747 | DOI:10.1016/j.jped.2021.06.006
