PRECeDe Pilot: Prevention of neonatal respiratory distress with antenatal corticosteroids before elective caesarean section in women with diabetes - a feasibility randomised trial
CONCLUSION: It is feasible to undertake a triple-blind, placebo-controlled RCT investigating the efficacy of antenatal corticosteroids in preventing respiratory morbidity in infants of women with PGDM or GDM who are undergoing an elective CS between 35+0 and 38+6 weeks.PMID:37186126 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17513

Comparing quality of life in women with vulvovaginal lichen planus treated with topical and systemic treatments using the vulvar quality of life index
CONCLUSION: We report the largest cohort study to date of adult women with VLP evaluating treatment responses to topical and systemic agents using the VQLI. In women whose VLP did not improve with conventional systemic immunosuppressants, tildrakizumab resulted in statistically significant decrease in mean VQLI scores in all 4 domains, highlighting tildrakizumab as an alternative treatment for VLP.PMID:37036241 | DOI:10.1111/ajd.14032

Intravenous immunoglobulin treatment for refractory pyoderma gangrenosum
CONCLUSION: Our experience suggests that IVIG may be an efficacious treatment for patients with refractory PG due to its pleiotropic and immunomodulatory effects, particularly for patients with malignancy or other systemic conditions where high-dose immunosuppressive agents are contraindicated.PMID:36961092 | DOI:10.1111/ajd.14024

Exploring the appropriateness of prescribing practice of inhaled pharmacotherapy among Aboriginal Australians in the Top End Northern Territory of Australia: a retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates that among Aboriginal patients with chronic airway diseases, ICS is the most common inhaled pharmacotherapy prescribed. Although LAMA/LABA and concurrent ICS use may be appropriate among patients with asthma and COPD, the use of ICS may have detrimental effects among those with underlying bronchiectasis either in isolation or concurrent COPD and bronchiectasis, potentially leading to higher hospital admission rates.PMID:36878611 | DOI:10.1136/bmjresp-2022-001508

Since it was first discovered, in rats in southern China in the 1930s, this tropical to subtropical parasite has spread to much of Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands (including Hawaii), Australia, Japan, South America, the southeastern United States, the Caribbean, Africa, the Canary Islands, and the Balearic Islands. The parasite completes its natural life cycle in snails and slugs (intermediate ho...
