Activity monitors for increasing physical activity in adult stroke survivors.
CONCLUSIONS: Only four small RCTs with 274 participants (three in inpatient rehabilitation and one in the community) have examined the efficacy of activity monitors for increasing physical activity after stroke. Although these studies showed activity monitors could be incorporated into practice, there is currently not enough evidence to support the use of activity monitors to increase physical activity after stroke. Improving acute stroke care in regional hospitals: clinical evaluation of the Victorian Stroke Telemedicine program.
CONCLUSIONS: Telemedicine has provided Victorian regional hospitals access to expert care for emergency department patients with suspected acute stroke. Differences in stroke risk and cardiovascular mortality for Aboriginal and other Australian patients with atrial fibrillation.
CONCLUSION: Stroke risk and cardiovascular mortality are markedly higher for Aboriginal than non-Aboriginal patients with atrial fibrillation, particularly for patients under 60. CONCLUSION: Our large population-based study identified sex differences in pre-hospital management by emergency medical services of women and men admitted to hospital with stroke.
