Phenylboronic acid-functionalized polyamidoamine-mediated Bcl-2 siRNA delivery for inhibiting the cell proliferation.
In conclusion, the PPP-mediated Bcl-2 siRNA delivery could potentially be an effective platform for solving the drug resistance and further achieving the combined chemotherapy and gene therapy in tumor treatment. PMID: 27371891 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

A cationic amino acid polymer nanocarrier synthesized in supercritical CO < sub > 2 < /sub > for co-delivery of drug and gene to cervical cancer cells
Colloids Surf B Biointerfaces. 2022 May 18;216:112584. doi: 10.1016/j.colsurfb.2022.112584. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe present study was undertaken to investigate the ability of a drug curcumin-loaded polymer to inhibit the growth of cervical cancer cells by enhancing the anti-cancer efficiency of curcumin. We synthesized poly(methacryloyl beta-alanine) (PMBA) as a nanocarrier by radical polymerization in supercritical CO2. The results showed that the curcumin encapsulated and folic acid (FA)-treated PMBA (Poly@Cur-FA) for 24 h activated the reactive oxygen species-mediated programmed cell death machinery in HeLa ce...

Hepatitis B virus DNA polymerase displays an anti-apoptotic effect by interacting with elongation factor 1-alpha2 in hepatoma cells.
In this study, we aimed at investigating the impact of HBV Pol on host cellular processes, mainly apoptosis, and the underlying mechanisms. We showed a marked reduction in apoptotic rates in the HBV Pol-expressed HepG2 cells compared to controls. Moreover, a series of assays-i.e. yeast two-hybrid, GST pull-down, co-immunoprecipitation, and confocal laser scanning microscopy-identified the host factor eEF1A2 to be associated with HBV Pol. Furthermore, knockdown of the eEF1A2 gene by siRNA abrogated the HBV Pol-mediated anti-apoptotic effect with apoptosis induced by endoplasmatic reticulum (ER) stress inducer thapsigargin (...
