Endoscopic surgery is superior to intensity modulated radiotherapy in the treatment of advanced recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma
Conclusion: Endoscopic surgery may be a more promising salvage treatment than IMRT to maximize survival and minimize treatment-related complications in advanced rNPC. These results will be significant in deciding the optimal treatment for patients with advanced rNPC.This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved

Efficacy of Vidian Neurectomy and Posterior Nasal Neurectomy in the Management of Nonallergic Rhinitis: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: EVN, SPNN, and CPNN are similarly efficacious for patients with NAR refractory to medical management. SPNN and CPNN are associated with lower rates of complications (dry eye and palatal/cheek numbness) compared with EVN.PMID:35695191 | DOI:10.1177/19458924221105933

Use of intraoperative frontal sinus mometasone ‐eluting stents decreased interleukin 5 and interleukin 13 in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps
ConclusionAlthough patients who received intraoperative frontal MES had significantly higher pre-ESS MM IL-13 and ECP, patients who received frontal MES had lower concentrations of IL-4 and IL-13 than those who did not at a median of 8 months post-ESS. However, these changes did not correspond to significantly different measures of symptomatic or radiographic disease severity.

Association between Concentration of Air Pollutants and Prevalence of Inflammatory Sinonasal Diseases: A Nationwide Cross-sectional Study
CONCLUSION: The prevalence of AR was significantly associated with PM10 concentration. In patients with AR, endoscopic findings of watery rhinorrhea were associated with PM10. However, CRS was not associated with the air pollutant concentrations. Lower concentration of PM10 might help managing the clinical symptoms in patients of AR.PMID:35535390 | DOI:10.1177/19458924221099373

Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide as a Marker of Mucosal Inflammation in Chronic Rhinosinusitis
CONCLUSIONS: FeNO levels correlated with increased sinonasal mucosal inflammation and symptom severity in CRS regardless of asthma status. FeNO measurements may serve as a quick and noninvasive marker in evaluating CRS patients.PMID:35238663 | DOI:10.1177/19458924221080260

What Are Common Gastrointestinal Polyposes in Children?
Discussion Bloody stools or blood in the diaper is a relatively common complaint in general pediatrics. For most patients it is often a minor concern. Commonly it is a transient problem (e.g. rectal fissure caused by constipation or trauma) or often not blood (e.g. urate crystals in the diaper, food, menses, etc.). Real blood does occur with an identifiable cause such as long distance running or heavy exercise, or milk protein allergy/sensitivity that improves with a milk-restricted diet. Many more serious causes are associated with heavier or more recalcitrant bleeding, increased defecation, abdominal pain, poor eating an...

Clinical parameters influencing the results of anterior rhinomanometry in children
ConclusionsThe study demonstrates that rhinomanometry can be applied in the pediatric population for objective evaluation of nasal obstruction and for determining the effects of decongestant nose drops. The highest correlation was found between nasal flow and children ’s body height, children’s age and status following adenoidectomy. The correlation between nasal flow and clinically/endoscopically determined degree of nasal obstruction was lower. However, definition of normal flow values for particular age groups is challenging since the results showed high v ariation and standard deviation. Yet with regard to individu...
