Effectiveness of Coronavirus Vaccines against Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and Its New Variants
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2021 Dec 8;20(6):647-671. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v20i6.8016.ABSTRACTThe widespread outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 in late 2019 caused many people worldwide to die or suffer from certain clinical complications even after the recovery. The virus has many social and economic adverse effects. Studies on severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) have specified that spike, surface glycoprotein antigen, is considered as a major target to stimulate the immune system. This glycoprotein binds to the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 on the surface of human cells especially lung epit...

Hypersentivity reactions to COVID-19 vaccines: a case of Eosinophilic pneumonia following Sinovac/CoronaVac vaccination
Eur Ann Allergy Clin Immunol. 2022 Feb 11. doi: 10.23822/EurAnnACI.1764-1489.247. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHypersensitivity reactions has been reported with COVID-19 vaccines. Acute eosinophilic pneumonia has not been reported yet after Sinovac/CoronaVac vaccine. A 73-year-old woman presented with maculopapular rash, cough and dyspnea following Sinovac/CoronaVac injection. The complete blood count (CBC) indicated eosinophilia and further evaluation of the eosinophilia with CT and bronchoscopy confirmed a diagnosis of acute eosinophilic pneumonia. After methylprednisolone therapy, her rash resolved with marked improvem...

Coronavirus disease 2019 messenger RNA vaccine skin tests and serum histamine levels in allergic reactions
We thank de Chaisemartin et  al1 for their correspondence in regard to our manuscript, “Coronavirus disease 2019 vaccine hypersensitivity evaluated with vaccine and excipient allergy skin testing.”2 De Chaisemartin et al1 elucidate their findings of transient elevation of serum histamine levels in 1 of 5 patients with an aphylaxis after messenger RNA (mRNA) coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine. Conversely, 4 of 5 patients had normal serum histamine and tryptase levels within 2 hours of anaphylaxis.
