In conclusion, genomic applications are currently benefiting African livestock systems in a variety of ways, including on genetic improvement and more broadly, such as assisting in system characterization. This has emerged relatively recently, largely within the last 5 years. CONCLUSIONS: This study performed on a large experimental population provides a list of candidate genes and polymorphisms which could be used in further validation studies.
