Specific-IgE to galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose (alpha-gal) has limited utility in diagnosing meat allergy in a tick-endemic population
Sensitization to galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose (alpha-gal) is considered a prerequisite to mammalian meat allergy (MMA), and can occur through tick bites, which is due to the paralysis tick, Ixodes holocyclus in Australia.1 The onset of symptoms is typically 3-6 hours following ingestion of mammalian meat, but immediate reactions are also described.2

Giardiasis : An overview.
CONCLUSION: Metronidazole, tinidazole, and nitazoxanide are the drugs of choice. Resistance to common antigiardial drugs has increased in recent years. As such, the search for new molecular targets for antigiardial drugs is urgently needed. In general, treatment of asymptomatic carriers is not recommended. Purification of water supply is an important preventive measure. PMID: 31210116 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Human Ascariasis: An Updated Review.
CONCLUSION: The average cure rate with anthelminthic treatment is over 95%. Unfortunately, most treated patients in endemic areas become re-infected within months. Health education, personal hygiene, improved sanitary conditions, proper disposal of human excreta, and discontinuing the use of human fecal matter as a fertilizer are effective long-term preventive measures. Targeting deworming treatment and mass anthelminthic treatment should be considered in regions where A. lumbricoides is prevalent. PMID: 32628606 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Vespa velutina nigrithorax venom allergy: inhibition studies approach for the choice of specific immunotherapy
Eur Ann Allergy Clin Immunol. 2022 Dec 13. doi: 10.23822/EurAnnACI.1764-1489.277. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVespa velutina nigrithorax (VVN), commonly known as Asian wasp because endemic in Asia, represents an alien species in Europe. VVN can induce allergic reactions similar to those caused by other Hymenoptera and deaths after VVN stings, presumably due to fatal allergic reactions, were reported. In the treatment of Hymenoptera venom hypersensitivity, specific immunotherapy (VIT) is highly effective, and the vaccine allergen-specificity plays a crucial role. Currently, there is no specific available VIT for VVN, so V...
