Role of PGRMC1 in cell physiology of cervical cancer
In this study, we performed 2D-DIGE and MALDI-TOF/TOF MS to analyze differentially expressed proteins between HeLa and invasive HeLa-I5 cells..Key findingsAccording to our proteomics data, 68 differentially expressed proteins between the HeLa and HeLa-I5 cells were identified. One of these differentially expressed proteins, Progesterone receptor membrane component 1 (PGRMC1), was selected as a candidate for further studies. To correlate the role of PGRMC1 with cellular migration and cancer progression, small interfering RNA (siRNA) was used to knockdown the expression of PGRMC1. Similar function of PGRMC1 was also observed...

P120-catenin regulates pulmonary fibrosis and TGF-β induced lung fibroblast differentiation
In this study, we investigated the expression and role of P120 in pulmonary fibrosis and transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) mediated lung fibroblast-to-myofibroblast differentiation (fibroblast differentiation). Our data indicated that P120 expression increased in lung fibrotic foci and primary lung fibroblasts isolated from bleomycin- (BLM) challenged mice, compared to controls. In vitro, TGF-β induced P120 expression in human lung fibroblasts, and siRNA-mediated SMAD3 depletion inhibited TGF-β stimulated P120 expression. Blocking nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-kB) pathway throu...

There are compelling evidences indicating that the expression of let-7e is downregulated in various cancers, however, the role of let-7e in colorectal cancer (CRC) and its mechanism has been remained unknown. Here, we investigated the potential role of let-7e in regulating CRC cells phenotypes.Main methodsLet-7e and DCLK1 siRNA were transfecte...

CC chemokine receptor 2 functions in osteoblastic transformation of valvular interstitial cells
Publication date: Available online 26 April 2019Source: Life SciencesAuthor(s): Enyi Zhu, Zihao Liu, Wanbing He, Bingqing Deng, Xiaorong Shu, Zhijian He, Xiaoying Wu, Xiao Ke, Ruqiong NieAbstractAimsCalcific aortic valve disease (CAVD) emerges as a challenging clinical issue, which is associated with high cardiovascular mortality. It has been demonstrated that osteoblastic transformation of AVICs is a key mechanism of CAVD and C-C motif chemokine receptors (CCRs) may favor this process. Thus, we aimed to investigate whether CCRs were involved in osteoblastic transformation of AVICs during the development CAVD.Main methodsW...
