Axial Length as a Risk Factor for Steroid-Induced Ocular Hypertension
CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that a long AXL is a risk factor for steroid-induced OHT. Further, clinicians should be aware of steroid-induced OHT when treating patients with high myopia with steroids.PMID:36031785 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2022.63.9.850

Antenatal corticosteroids in Singapore: A clinical and scientific assessment
Singapore Med J. 2022 Oct 6. doi: 10.4103/SINGAPOREMEDJ.SMJ-2022-014. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPreterm birth (PTB; delivery prior to 37 weeks' gestation) is the leading cause of early childhood death in Singapore today. Approximately 9% of Singaporean babies are born preterm; the PTB rate is likely to increase given the increased use of assisted reproduction technologies, changes in the incidence of gestational diabetes/high body mass index and the ageing maternal population. Antenatal administration of dexamethasone phosphate is a key component of the obstetric management of Singaporean women who are at risk of immin...

All aspects of sciatic nerve injection injury: an experiment with 78 rats
In this study, we evaluate sciatic nerve injuries due to intramuscular injections, which is an important medicolegal problem frequently encountered in medical practice, with an extended experimental rat model of peripheral nerve injury.METHODS: A total of 78 male Wistar albino rats were divided into five main groups, including a control group, a sham saline group, and groups that received benzathine penicillin G, diclofenac sodium, and dexamethasone, respectively. These pharmaceutical agents were applied to the sciatic nerves of all rats after exploration in the epineurial, endoneurial, and intrafascicular compartments, ex...

Baicalin attenuates dexamethasone-induced apoptosis of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells by activating the hedgehog signaling pathway
CONCLUSIONS: BA antagonizes Dex-induced apoptosis of human BMSCs by activating the HH signaling pathway. It is a potential candidate for preventing SONFH.PMID:36804262 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000002113

Use of antenatal corticosteroids among infants during gestational age at 24 to 31 weeks in 57 neonatal intensive care units of China: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: The use rate of ACS remained low for infants at 24 to 31 weeks' gestation admitted to Chinese NICUs, with fewer infants receiving a complete course. The use rates varied significantly among different hospitals. Efforts are urgently needed to propose improvement measures and thus improve the usage of ACS.PMID:36848141 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000002266
