Long-term monitoring of egg-laying cycle using ultrasonography reveals the reproductive dynamics of circulating sex steroids in an oviparous catshark, Scyliorhinus torazame
Gen Comp Endocrinol. 2022 Jun 13;327:114076. doi: 10.1016/j.ygcen.2022.114076. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe many diverse reproductive strategies of elasmobranchs (sharks, skates and rays) from lecithotrophic oviparity to matrotrophic viviparity have attracted significant research attention. However, the endocrine control of elasmobranch reproduction is less well-documented largely due to their reproductive characteristics, such as a long reproductive cycle, and/or repeated internal fertilization using stored sperm in oviparous species. In the present study, for the first time, we succeeded in non-invasive monitoring o...

Evaluation of Endpoints Used in Clinical Trials on Adenomyosis - A Systematic Review
Rev Recent Clin Trials. 2023 Mar 29. doi: 10.2174/1574887118666230329104546. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAdenomyosis lacks approved pharmacological treatment even after decades of its identification. We performed this study to review the status of clinical research on adenomyosis for finding an effective drug therapy and to identify the most common endpoints used in adenomyosis trials. A systematic search was performed in the PubMed and Clinicaltrials.gov registries to identify interventional trials for analysis without any time and language restrictions. Our search revealed that barely 15 drugs have been assessed for th...

"Longitudinal course of sex steroids from pregnancy to postpartum"
CONCLUSIONS: A comprehensive understanding of the influence of SS levels on associated maternal and fetal pathologies is currently hindered by two main factors. First, reported SS levels vary widely during the peripartum period. Second, the current state of knowledge on how SS are associated with pathologies in mothers and babies is largely based on correlational studies, and causality thus remains unclear. Consequently, we recommend the development of a systematic reference framework that follows the suggestions presented in this review. This would enable the establishment of SS reference values for a healthy population, ...
