IJERPH, Vol. 18, Pages 9781: Interstitial Ectopic Pregnancy: The Role of Mifepristone in the Medical Treatment
We describe the case of a patient with an interstitial pregnancy that was managed with a total medical approach in August 2020 at Burlo Garofolo Hospital. The patient was asymptomatic and hemodynamically stable, with a high level of serum β-hCG (22,272 mUi/mL). We used the combination of methotrexate (MTX) and mifepristone. Medical therapy was effective leading to interstitial pregnancy resolution in 51 days without collateral effects for the patient. We found seven previous cases reported in the literature. Our purpose is to underline the efficacy of medical therapy with systemic multidose MTX associated with a single or...

Clinical outcomes of medical treatments for progressive desmoid tumors following active surveillance: a systematic review
AbstractApproximately 80% of desmoid tumors (DTs) show spontaneous regression or disease stabilization during first-line active surveillance. We searched the EMBASE, PubMed, and CENTRAL databases to identify published studies for progressive DTs. The disease control rates of the medical treatments, such as low-dose chemotherapy with methotrexate plus vinblastine or vin...

Fertility outcomes after medical and surgical management of tubal ectopic pregnancy
The objective was to investigate whether the method of treatment (surgical or medical) affects achieving a new pregnancy, as well as the time to and prognosis of the new pregnancy, in women with ectopic pregnancy (EP). Information on patients treated in our hospital between 2013 and 2014 for EP was retrieved from the computerized patient records. Data on whether these patients achieved pregnancy after EP treatment, time from treatment to new pregnancy, and prognosis of pregnancy were collected by phone interviews. A total of 101 women were analyzed. In addition to descriptive analysis, the χ2-test and Kruskal Wallis test ...
