Antibacterial Activity of Eight Medicinal Plants from the Traditional Pharmacopoeia of Niger
J Trop Med. 2023 Jul 24;2023:6120255. doi: 10.1155/2023/6120255. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTThe emergence of multidrug bacterial resistance poses a great public health problem and requires a constant search for new antibacterial agents. However, Niger's flora possesses several medicinal plants used in traditional medicine to cure infectious diseases and can be used as sources of bioactive ingredients. This current study was designed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of eight plants used in the traditional pharmacopeia of Niger. The extracts were prepared by maceration using ethanol, methanol, and distilled water. The ob...

Improving the Growth and Productivity of Macrotyloma uniflorum Medicinal Plant by the Co-inoculation of P, Zn and K-Solubilizing Fungi Under Field Conditions
Curr Microbiol. 2023 Jul 11;80(9):277. doi: 10.1007/s00284-023-03385-y.ABSTRACTThe presence of small amount of soluble forms of Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K) and Zinc (Zn) in most soils is one of the limiting factors for agronomic crop production. The current study focuses on Macrotyloma uniflorum (horse gram or gahat), the most commonly cultivated crop in Uttarakhand. The current initiative and study were started, because there is a little information available on the impact of co-inoculation of beneficial fungi on crops in agricultural fields. Aspergillus niger K7 and Penicillium chrysogenum K4 were isolated and selected...

Exploration of the chemical constituents and its antioxidant, antibacterial activities of endophytic fungi isolated from the medicinal plant Dillenia indica
Arch Microbiol. 2023 Jan 18;205(2):67. doi: 10.1007/s00203-023-03407-0.ABSTRACTAssam, India being the pool for ethnomedicinal plants harbors diverse endophytic fungi constituting major bioactive metabolites. The present study was designed to screen the antioxidant, antibacterial activities along with the chemical constituents of the endophytic fungi isolated from the fruits of Dillenia indica (commonly known as Otenga in Assam). Screening of such metabolic compounds and their antioxidant, antibacterial activities can have tremendous potential in suppressing certain diseases. Agar well diffusion method has been used to carr...
